This is the same Flames we've seen for a year and a half now under Ward. One game of progress followed by 2 or 3 of steps backward.
The team is as inconsistent as it has ever been.
You should expect maybe 3 or 4 games like this every season. The Flames have a game like this one every 3 or 4 games.

Geoff Ward is not the right coach for this team.
Besides that, the Flames players in front of Markstrom tried to put in as minimal amount of effort as possible and got burned. They can't just rely on their goalie as much as they are. Without Markstrom, feels like we'd be lucky to have 3 or even 2 wins this season. Garbage.

Coaching is more important this year with all of the back to backs. Ward always seems surprised and unable to adapt on the fly when the other teams make changes between games. He is a rookie coach and might learn but it seems like it will hurt more in this shortened season. Also, why Leivo out at the end?
