What a shift by Ovechkin. He decided he was gonna score no matter what.

Entertaining game so far. 4 points each for Ovechkin and Tom Wilson with 1 period to go.

Crazy situation in the Blue Jackets game, refs got an offside goal review wrong and originally gave a penalty for failed challenge
Realized they were wrong during intermission and took the penalty off the board. Never seen that happen before
Currently the game winning goal too. NHL refs are terrible

How many people are aware that the Panthers are crushing it? Haven’t lost in regulation yet and hilariously Detroit of all teams may be the first to defeat them this way this year.

They made a very good GM hire to make up for a few terrible GM hires
People forget they actually made their AHL coach their NHL GM at one point

Anyone have any ideas of the reasoning behind the sitting of Khudobin? He did something to piss off Bowness

What? The goal was offside but they count the goal and rescind the penalty for a wrong challenge?

NHL officiating is terrible. It needs a complete overhaul
- No one really knows what goalie interference is
- Obvious game management calls as opposed to calling by the book
- The standard seems to not only change game to game but it changes DURING the game depending on who is trailing and by how much
- Apparently they can’t even get reviews right in slow motion
- Complete lack of accountability when they do a poor job officiating

The NHL sent out a tweet saying there was miscommunication between the linesman, Columbus' replay room and the NHL situation room. It sounds like the refs were shown the incorrect replay and not the actual offside.

I would be so pissed off if I was Columbus.
I get that mistakes happen, but they should have removed the goal at the start of the next period, and 1:15 should have been added to the clock to make up for the Jackets being shorthanded after failing to win the challenge.
Maybe I am missing something obvious, but why wouldn't they just do that? It's not like they made the decision based on the available tapes at the time and other footage was found later to counter the decision. They actually looked at the wrong replay and made their decision looking at the wrong footage. So I don't think it is a slippery slope argument where decisions will often get overturned after intermission.
The officials screwed up, plain and simple. Pretty bush league to not rectify it at the time.

Fully agree with what you said. I personally hate anything to do with instant replay, it just gives refs the ability to not call stuff and if Toronto overturns them they just shrug. Get rid of the replay, nobody knows what they are calling anyway - see goaltender interference, and make the refs actually do their jobs.

Sooo it was a penalty for the failed challenge was removed because it wasnt a goal, but the goal still stands? I dont understand.
...Imagine if that was a playoff game, or overtime...there would be virtual riots on HF

The Bhawks-Stars was a good game with the both teams' backups in net. Subban gets the win with DeBrincat scoring both goals including the OT winner. Kane assisted on both goals as the Bhawks won 2-1.
The Knights and Kings kept trading goals, the Knights with a perfect 4/4 PK hung on for the 4-3 win in reg time. Tuch with 2 assists and Stephenson with 2 goals including the winner on the PP.
The Red Wings get a surprise win as they beat the Panthers 4-1. It was another goalie duel, Greiss get the win making 36 saves and Dreidger takes the loss as he made 35 saves.

The right thing to do would be to revert the time back to the time of the non-goal and started from there. I don't understand why they didn't do that.
