As a GM who knows the pain of having few draft picks to look forward to in the coming years, I would warn new GMs about this type of deal. BUT, Hayes is a heck of a player who doesn't seem to be on the decline right now. He should rerate similar or better next year if early indications are to be believed.
Monahammer, you will miss those picks at some point.
I vote yay.

Hopefully, Monahammer is around for that pick otherwise it leaves the next GM in a hole with an asset not worth half of what it is now and no picks in the cupboard.

agreed about the picks, but I think the value is fine. I gave up a similar package for Reilly Smith last year and have not regretted it once. Hayes doesn't look like he's regressing either.

Hayes comes to me basically free on salary this year. If the team doesn't succeed in the playoffs this year we may do some restructuring but we think Hayes is a long term piece.

Hayes has really improved since he went to Philadelphia, I have no issue with the trade.

The trades on the site always have it one team off

It's actually detroits. When i trade my 1sts its always detroits because im the next team over alphabetically. So when detroit trades theirs its one team over, hence dallas

So are the other picks in the deal correct?

Both Dallas picks would be Detroit picks. Idk if the blues or pens comes before San Jose but the other puck would be one of those two

I would like to change my vote to no in light of the picks being DET as opposed to DAL. Not that it matters. I believe that Hayes is being sold high and that pick could be extremely valuable if DET GM cant figure out the sim next season. The sim is a tricky thing and just because your team is winning this year doesnt mean it will next year with the same roster
