Post Game Lineups Cleanup

I've noticed that it's become a thing lately for teams to dress their whole organization for games The roster size is only 18 skaters and 2/3rds of the league are playing with more than 18 skaters

By playing more than the allowed limit allows teams to lessen the amount that their players get tired and helps prevent other players from getting injured or tired themselves.

We even have players that have played the full season in the CPHL while listed on the team page listed in the AHL (not getting a lot of ice and not intentional)

Scratching players that shouldn't be in the lineup we can prevent them from getting ice time, and will also prevent us from slotting them into a position

That's generally what happens when teams don't send in lines or send in ones with errors. The sim barfs up all over itself and dresses everyone.

We rely on the honor system in this league and it is up to each GM to be accountable for their teams. We ask for lines for each game - which is the BARE minimum to participate in the league.
if you can't do that - no hard feelings - but step away.

I will just note, as a new player, it was a bit confusing that the roster in the sim and the game roster on the page are not linked. At first, I didnt realize I also needed to adjust my roster on the page and thought that the roster changes done in the sim would automatically carry. That being said, I don't think it's too hard to do this all now that I know about it!

Was about to post this. Thanks Doug.

I like the 24 hr rule for responding. It would be nice to get a response even if it is no thanks or screw off with your low ball offer

I feel like I have to go back into Carolina's last game, and find the name of the player who snuck in for 2:13 of icetime for an amazing end to end game winning goal, to send the Hurricanes to their demise.

I see some GMs just re-forward their lines from the day before, in the same email.
This is part of what creates the issue - as if you aren't downloading a new file each time, then your old lines file may not apply.

I get some error messages that tell me when lines are incomplete - but it would be far too much work to follow up with GMs daily on that.

Which is why it really falls to everyone to do their part.

I just went through the league and I figure out what may cause a problem with some teams (or save GM tons of work) Right now only the Kings and myself do this on the current upload

I used to get upset when the SIM defaulted my lines and everything I had set was messed up, each game I would have to re-set the lines I originally had

An easy thing to do so you don't have to redo your lines each time

On the ROSTERs tab, once you set your rosters click the COPY ALL ROSTERS tab. This will save your rosters for the next 10 games

Then select the LINES tab, and then set your lines for the game. Once you have done that then select the COPy ALL LINES. and this will set you lines for the next ten games

While in the lines editor you will now see that you can scroll your lines for the next 10 games. know if you have a back to back game and such

Now as a league we still need to submit lines each and every game, but setting lines this way will prevent when there is an error and you have to redo each and every line. If the SIM does reset your roster then just load your last saved lines that you send in, all your lines will be back to normal

If there's an injury, you need to re-save your rosters, save all rosters and then the same thing with the lines

I've been doing that since the moment I looked at the program. Sending in lines is a 45 second process, with small changes. Big changes make more time.

What on earth have you guys been doing?

One of the favorite parts of this game for me is doing lines....so many possibilities, so many strategies...so many ways to keep messing things up and trying to remember the last 'good lines' I had!

never tried that "Copy all lines" function, interesting ... but you definitely don't have to deal with default rosters and re-build everything if you don't. Download the latest roster file, load it in the sim, choose your team, "load file" and choose your lines file, check "Roster" for injuries, use "Lines" to make changes, then "Save to File", mail the lines file. Rinse and repeat. If you don't have injuries and are happy with your performance, it literally takes two minutes. Everybody has time to do that.

I did just notice that if you use the automatic line function, it will add the extra player. I don't know the advantage of having a 62OVR player skating around for 3 minutes, but it's there. Maybe it does just save on wear and tear.

Yeah, it is usually quite a quick email that is sent for the games, especially if no injuries/changes needed.

Download the roster, check if any injuries, save the file and submit.
