It was also announced that he'll be staying on as a Special Assistant to Bill Foley and be active in the community, charity, etc.

In the release it is announced he is the "Special Assistant to the owner" for the Golden Knights foundation. Which probably means he will be involved with all their community work.

Wow! I remember an interview from a few years back saying he'd be happy with playing just a little bit longer, which surprised me but maybe he just knew and / or is smart

Such an honest player who carved out a decent career based simply on determination and heart. Paid his dues for years in the minors and kept grinding. Great story.

Really happy he was a Flame for 3 years.

Godspeed Deryk you great soldier!

I loved him as a Flame and respected him in Vegas!

Hopefully he finds another job that allows him to clobber multiple Canucks single-handedly!

Vancouver Police perhaps?

One of those guys who only played a short time, but I think will always have a big place in the hearts of fans.

Enjoyed having him here.

Dorsett's career as any sort of tough guy was done after that pathetic display, both having pillow soft Hamhuis come in and save him and then deciding to give a cheap shot to Engelland after shedding Hamhuis and it winding down. It didn't register, meanwhile when Deryk punches back Dorsett is rocked.

In an interview Engelland told the story that when he skated by the Canucks bench he said "next time three".
