Cory Stillman hired as Coyotes asst coach

Loved Him as a Flame. Hated him as a Bolt. Loved him as a Cane beating Edmonton.

Should be a solid hire for the forward group down here

Head Coach in Sudbury the last 3 seasons. 5 seasons in Player Development for the Hurricanes before that. 1 season as a Development coach in Florida before that. Playing in the NHL before that.

Haven’t read this name in a while, but it spurred a memory. He came to our school when I was in Jr. High and gave a speech. Followed by a question period and the first kid asks: “how many goals have you scored this year?”

Stillman sheepishly raised 3 fingers. It was hilarious.

He was the most recent NHL player to win consecutive Stanley Cups with more than one team, until this year.

Cool, I had no idea what he was up too. Guess he was a development and skills coach for the Panthers then Hurricanes before being announced the head coach of the Sudbury Wolves since 2017

Would that be Patrick Maroon?

I love seeing players achieve great success after wasting away in the cesspool that is Edmonton.

How happy is Pat Maroon?

I have Stillman signed card somewhere in a long lost binder at my parents house. I wonder what else is in there.

Was it that Stillman hit in the 2004 run that derailed Nilsson's career?

Remember when he was drafted and the comparison was to Adam Oates.

Sigh.

I don't think so. Nilsson played a couple of mostly full seasons after that and then finished a half a season in Calgary. Then had quite a few seasons in Europe after.

And Bennett was compared to Gilmour.... and so on and so on. Have to be compared to someone...Win some, lose some. Lose lots lol.

Stillman was still a win and had a really good career.

The best part of that fight between Ference and Stillman was Andy telling the story of Chris Simon on the other side of the scrum looking at Ference and growling: "Andy.. get him!"

I remember him telling that story on the Fan 960 the season after or something like that. It was before he was traded to Boston.
