@NHLFlames The #Flames ownership, management and staff mourn the passing of Byron J. Seaman. Mr. Seaman was 1 of 6 community leaders who formed the original ownership group who brought the team to Calgary in 1980.

He and his brother pretty incredible people. Bringing the Flames here and leaving behind incredible legacies.

Guys like the Seaman brothers, Scurfield, Hotchkiss and Kwong were everything you could possibly want in owners of your favorite sports franchise.

It took Nelson Skalbania to get the deal done but thankfully they bought him out before much time could pass.

Actually, it looks like Nelson Skalbania and Norman Green are still with us.

But those two are like the black sheep of the group and weren't part of the ownership group for as long.

RIP. Seaman epitomized what it is to be good civic citizen. It was guys like him who used their status to drive innovation and build community, helping Calgary become a world class city.
