Default Sirius Radio?

Once again i turn to CP for answers:

So I have this radio that says it's Sirius ready. Will I need other equipment to make it work? Or can i simply sign up and get it?

Need more info. How do you "have" it? Is it in a new car you bought? Did you drive down and buy it in the States? Did you buy it here somewhere?

I think the radio was bought and installed by future shop in calgary. It's just a regular "deck".

Currently Sirius radio is only available in the US. However Sirius Canada is scheduled to launch December 1st.

What they mean by "Sirius Ready" is that your deck's display and controls are ready for a Sirius radio, but you will still have to buy a receiver and antenna.

Currently there is some confusion as to whether or not the US systems will be compatable with the Canadian ones.

One huge advantage you will have is you can hide your unit, and still have full functionality.
I can't believe I just said "hide your unit." : )

thanks for the info...

It seems pricy to me, i would still need to spend $100 on a reciever, and $13USD per month. You can get center ice for that.

OK, this may be the best place for it.

Ken, any idea when XM is supposed to start broadcasting? I signed up to be one of their "Founding subscribers" but haven't gotten any info at all.

Oh, and BTW, XM has an agreement with the NHL to have an all hockey network and a number of games on every night.

Sirius Canada will be $15 CDN per month.
XM Canada will be $13 per month.

Both have launch dates of December 1st, but the rumour is XM will be early and Sirius will be late.

Both will have NHL until the end of the 06-07 season. For me wit hSirius having NFL Football was the breaking point.

I got an email from XM yesterday about getting an advance purchase option.

That's it for now- off to the game!

Any word on what receivers are going to cost, and the different options we will have? I am looking for something that can be played in my car, but then removed to be used as a portable device. Anything that allows programs to be recorded?

For XM there's the MyFi and its clones (Pioneer AirWave, etc).
