Dang. Given the need to fill out some D spots in the roster, I was thinking Stecher may have been a good option for the Flames. Oh well. Good for Detroit.

yeah no kidding. Replaced Markstrom with Holtby, lost Tanev and Stecher without bringing someone in so far ... defensemen on the roster right now according to CapFriendly:
Edler, Alexander
Myers, Tyler
Benn, Jordie
Rathbone, Jack
Hughes, Quinn
yikes!

Red Wings with a pretty good signing. Bad miss by Canucks not retaining him at that price.

Maybe the plan is to go hard after Peitrangelo, but that's not likely. Plus they need to re-sign Virtanen and Pettersen needs a big money deal next year, Boeser's bridge deal up the year after that.
Vancouver not looking great right now

I believe they said they are moving on from Virtanen?? They are looking worse for sure though no doubt.

Canucks might have to pay up for OEL now. The leverage is starting to swing in the Coyotes favour.
They are going to have to package young assets to lose the Eriksson, Sutter, Beagle, Baertschi contracts in order to fit in a OEL or Pietrangelo.
Or they can sign Hamonic and pair him with Hughes!

What the hell are the Canucks doing?
I wonder if they're a dark horse for Pietro.
Their RHD is now just Tyler Myers. That's it.

Canucks went big game hunting with OEL and needed cap for that. Once that didn’t work out. They were in on Brodie, Barrie and Tanev. Neither of those worked out, and now they probably have to revert back to OEL, and probably meet the ask.

Was hoping to sign either Tanev or Stecher. Got one of 'em, so I am happy.
The Nucks though... man. Gotta be going all in for OEL now, I would think.

OEL set a deadline for Friday for Vancouver/Boston to make a deal, and the deals were rejected. OEL is staying in Arizona.

I almost don't wonder if the Canucks blew their rebuild by not committing to it when they had the chance. Now they have two incredible players on ELCs and all the money they should be using to bolster them while they're cheap is wasted on a bunch of horrible contracts.

TSN Radio Vancouver @TSN1040
More @DhaliwalSports: "Canucks called Stecher today, he could've been back in Vancouver but they were in on Tyson Barrie, Stecher's camp couldn't keep waiting, it was a timing issue not a money issue."

It won't be Rathbone. It will probably be either Chatfield or Rafferty if they don't do anything this off season. Oh and that Juolevi guy too, remember him?

Do you eat eat soup with a fork as well?
Because they really aren’t the same. One is a second pair guy and the other is a third pair.
