UPD: Markstrom down to Edmonton or Calgary. Dreger says Oilers out

Believe VAN has made its best offer to Markstrom camp already. Wait and see mode until Friday. From the sounds of things I wouldn’t be surprised if he hits the open market. IF it happens, the Flames could be a front-runner. Canucks could circle back, but this will be fun to watch

If Jacob Markstrom makes it to free agency Friday, believe Calgary will make a competitive, long-term pitch.
Also am of the understanding #Flames are a preferred landing spot if Markstrom doesn’t return to Vancouver.

Does Markstrom dislike it in Vancouver, or is this just a money thing?
I agree with these anti-Thursday posters. This has to be the most exciting FA period for the Flames in a while. They are in the discussion with all the major FAs and one of the few teams with enough cap flexibility to make these big moves happen.

Going after the Canucks players is a win no matter what, the Flames either sign the player or drive up the price for the Canucks. I would not be do sure that this is not just Tre driving up the prices.

Everyone is crazy and Markstrom would be a terrible signing.
I'm not even trying to sugarcoat it anymore.
He would be decent for 2 years, and then cripple the franchise with another Neal contract.

From what I read he likes Vancouver . Biggest stumbling block seems to be a NmC and money. That said it was reported Vancouver offered him more money yesterday .
