It was UFA Eve And All Through the House
Not a creature was stirring, except for Blaster and probably his spouse.
What do you want?
And what do you not want?

I want Markstrom over Hall.
We have craved a starting goalie for so long. My ass is tired of being clenched during simple plays.

My shopping list:
1) A goalie. Probably Markstrom.
2) A mid-pair dman who can play the right side. If not Brodie, I'd take a look at Barrie or even Vatanen.
3) A reclamation forward or two. Guys like Colin Wilson and Alex Galchenyuk are appealing.
4) Some veteran sandpaper on defense. A guy like Borowiecki would be ideal but he'll be expensive. Karl Alzner on a cheap deal might not be the worst idea.

Markstrom
Hall
Brodie/Barrie
Blockbuster trade to make the salary fit and fix the defense.

Brodie, Kahun, Talbot, and Forbort.
Plus the Oilers give out a bunch of bad contracts to useless players.

In theory I wouldn't hate seeing Forbort extended but I don't want the Flames to give up a third to keep him.
If they re-sign him, they give the Kings their third next year instead of their fourth.

No big deal. Just trade down 5 spots to get a couple more.

this alone makes it very easy not to re-sign Forbort
When you factor in his -8.4 ESCF%, it's even easier.

I want Hall.
I also want us to run at least a year with Hall and Gaudreau on the top line, making it rain production up in this bitch.

If we could get Andreas Anthansiou on a cheap deal and Glencrossed the Oilers, that would be funny.

Just make a splash.
Go for one of the top 3 big name players. Don’t settle for the trash UFA signings we’ve had in the past.

For the first time in a long time I don't really have a read on the Flames heading into the offseason. I know they want at least 1 right side D man and want to stabilize goaltending.
We have heard they will go after Hall and will be in on that too.
I have no clue how anything is gonna shake out when it comes to executing their vision with this team moving forward.
Personally I see it one of two ways, they're going to find a RHS RW or two, probably move on from a difficult RFA situation with 88. Keep Gaudreau and work on the bottom 6 fws. Along with the common knowledge about goalies and rhd.
Or the other way, they sign Hall, trade Johnny for a big piece to fill a hole somewhere else.
What I want, acquire a Toffoli or say Nolan Patrick via trade. Blah blah head risks blah blah yeah I know, but I think you can still trade for him without Gaudreau as the centerpiece of a trade.
I'll take a varied mixture of RHD players ranging from Schultz to Vatanen to Shatternkirk to Barrie or even a Ristolainen in trade.
I want Holtby more than I want Markstrom.
Id like to make room on D for the kids to rule the roost. Hanifin, Valimaki, Kylington, Andersson are all primed for full time. Give them one piece of help and a little depth. Don't forget Mackey is in their plans too.
Hanifin could be on the move too. So who knows wtf is going on.
Actually, after saying all that, all I want now is for Tree to be proactive and not reactive in roster tweaking. Be aggressive.
I love that they went all out at the draft. That made me really happy. Got all sorts of goodies there.
Let's just have a fun day tomorrow.

The dude against Forbort now says "maybe its okay"
I respect you for that. Some people choose to die on the wrong hill.

And with that somehow if Benning is made for our top 6 I agree
I have a feeling this is going to be our best FA of a long time.
Cheers boys
