Arizona shopping Hall's rights

Interested to see if some one ponies up a pick to speak to him. Been speculated by some the Flames could be one of those teams.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Sources say the Arizona Coyotes are shopping the rights to Taylor Hall.

I’m hoping Treliving gambles on Hall going to UFA and doesn’t spend a pick to negotiate now...

If he's already dangling the Flames 1st for Kuemper I could see a package being done

Off topic here, but I’m not so sure about that Twitter account. They tweet so much is basically just throwing mud until something sticks. Taking educated guesses on already established rumors.

Then they spend 50% of their time trying to dunk on anyone who questions their legitimacy. It’s not a professional insider at all.

Frankly, if this is true it more than likely would indicate that Hall's contract demands are outrageous.

An oft-injured 28-year-old is not someone you want to lock into a big contract.

Not something I'd be interested in considering economic uncertainty at the moment.

Wait until Friday, Brad. No need to send anything to Arizona.

I think what it shows us is that he has no interest is staying with Arizona, not that his contract demands are nuts.

Though the two aren't mutually exlcusive.

Disagree, his demands could be perfectly reasonable but he simply told them he had no interest spending the remainder of his career playing for lottery pick position.

Ya I agree but it does seem like they are right more often. It is very irritating for every other tweet to try and prove they were right and legit.

Default Trading for Hall's rights

It looks like I may be in the minority here, but I think it is absolutely crucial to trade for Hall's rights and get him signed prior to the draft. If we are able to do it for a relatively modest price (say a 2021 3rd and/or B prospect) it opens up so many options come draft day with Gaudreau.

Based on the tweets, it's a virtual certainty that it's a kid pretending to be an insider.

1000% my thought as well. If we can acquire his rights today, get him signed - Tree removes uncertainty from his roster and can move forward.

I for one, am going to lose it when the Avs acquire his rights. Every single conference/divisional rival gets better - and Tree stands still! *just getting my emotional overreaction ready to go*

So... wouldn't it be funny if the Oilers gave us their 3rd pick this year, and then we traded that pick for the rights to Taylor Hall and then signed him?

When you trade for rights you are pretty much telling the player "yeah, I'll pay your ask". That's what happened with Jaybo. I'm leery of it unless the Flames have been able to talk to Hall ahead of time and he's coming in at 8 or less.

It would be funny, but can't happen.

If Edmonton gave the Flames the 2020 3rd it goes to Chicago as part of the condition of the Gustafsson trade. Chicago gets the better of the Oilers or the Flames 2020 3rd.

From the player perspective, I never understood why they would bother going with the acquiring team's offer, a day or 2 before true free agency? Say thanks for the offer, it will be duly considered and then off to market. If it is the best deal, accept it then?

I think because it might not be available later, and most importantly, because it has the extra year which other teams cannot offer.

Nope. Unfortunately to get the 8th year you need to be on the team's roster at the previous season's trade deadline.

So trading for someone's rights does not give you the ability to sign them to an 8th year.
