If they'd wanted to do that they should've done it last year. Dude's 30, makes $5m per for 3 more years and is coming off a 30 point, 14 goal season. That ain't worth $5m.

Yeah but he's also been bumped down to the third line and had his minutes cut dramatically by the arrival of Point and Cirelli.

Ideal buy-low candidate IMO. Still a hell of a player who probably won't cost much in a trade.

No worries about him coming to Calgary, he won’t waive to come here.

Having said that, he probably could put up 50-60 points here getting first line minutes with Tkachuk, which would justify that salary.

Bruce Garrioch says that TJ is not interested in moving:

Would really suck a week after winning the cup you are basically told you we can’t keep yo7 around

I'd take a gamble on him and use the opportunity to split Monahan and Gaudreau up by sticking Johnson with Johnny and Monahan with Tkachuk.

Dude has one season in his entire career over 50 points and it was 5 years ago. It wasn't a lack of minutes, he's just never been more than a decent 2nd line center, and now, as mentioned, he's 30.

If you really need a center he's probably not going to be a huge liability but I wouldn't pay anything of value for him in this cap environment.

Johnson, Palat or Gourde has to move. They all have 5M+ contracts.

5M+ for a 30 point winger? Why would we do this? No.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

It makes sense for him to work with Tampa this off season as he can have more control over where he might end up rather than waiting until next year when his full NTC becomes limited.

Also, he's a RW/C with a right shot that gets limited minutes on a deep Tampa team. If he gets moved and ends up getting a top 6 role again next season his production will probably go up significantly.

When your first line players get 50-60 points, you don’t make the playoffs.

That was the Stajan lesson.

How much would TB have to retain to make him attractive I wonder?

Now if they want to retain 50% and will trade him for a song that might be different.

Well...for one he is a 50 pt winger.

Secondly he is a RS RW/C, which is a massive void on this club.

3rd he is a very very good player.

If the acquisition cost is right, he would be a tremendous piece to add along with his playoff experience.

With all their NMC’s and the fact they just won a cup , they are going to lose someone good like Sergachev.

To be fair, I didn't know it was in there. It's not like we're bursting with news lately anyway.
