RIP Dale Hawerchuk
Just got the notification from TSN on my phone that he died at the age of 57. Terrible news.

One of my favourite players ever. His rookie year, putting up 103 points as an 18 year old, was one of the greatest rookie seasons of all time. And it lifted the Jets from 32 pts to 80.
Not just a great player, but also very likable and very popular young man - Winnipeg loved him as their captain and leader.
Very sad day

RIP. His players in Barrie all seemed to have a huge level of respect for him. I imagine this will be very tough news for Mangiapane and Andersson. Both spoke very highly of him and give him credit for their success.

Gutted. Ducky was a legend, my Didos favourite player and why he loved the Jets and then me and my brother.
RIP Dale. You will be missed

Obviously a Jet through and through, but a very good player in Buffalo also- goes there as part of a massive swap (Housley and the May and Tkachuk picks as main pieces) and in 4 years leads the team in scoring 3 times (on teams that featured the likes of Turgeon, Lafontaine, Mogilny and Andreychuk)
what. a. player.
RIP

What a great player he was. Without Gretzky around putting up stupid 200+ points he would have been the league MVP at least twice.

Wish I got to see him play live because from the footage I've seen he was just a tremendous player.

Ugh, that sucks. He was a top-five player of my childhood. You had Gretzky and Lemieux, then Hull, Yzerman and Hawerchuk all doing amazing things on the ice.
