Ducks move Connor, roll the dice
After acquiring Kane (74 OVR), our Top 6 was getting crowded and 3rd line salaries high without much flexibility.
Our initial desire was moving Kane, but Hanni pushed for Connor and we put together a deal after a bunch of back and forth.
TO OTT
K. Connor (75)
M. Mueller (66)
TO DUCKS
J. Hughes
1st (OTT) 22'
L. Crouse (68)
This one is a gamble, hopefully somewhat calculated.
Hughes was the youngest player in the NHL last year on an absolute trainwreck of a team. He has incredible offensive potential and could be a great contract. If he can respond. He was the 1st pick for a reason, let's hope he steps up.
The 1st from Ottawa and Crouse offset my risk. Crouse had 15 goals this yr and at 22yrs old is maybe starting to hit his stride.
Connor is a stud and was top 6 in scoring in the league last year in the NHL. He will continue to perform strongly I suspect.
Thanks for the deal Hanni.

Yeah I like this a lot for the the Ducks.
Hughes maybe didn't live up to his rookie hype, but he's still a first overall pick with a crazy pedigree. Plus he was a pretty young 1st year player with a May Birthday, so was 18 pretty much his entire rookie season.
Going by pre-draft NHL equivalency his closest comparables were Patrick Kane, Jack Eichel, and Auston Matthews.
To add a 1st and Crouse to that is a big steal for the Ducks.

As a reminder, the Ducks gave up Josh Norris and Joe Veleno for Connor.
So they've turned Norrs/Veleno and Mueller into Hughes, a 1st and Crouse
Dear god.

I like this deal for the Ducks but Kyle Connor has proven to be a stud at a very young age already. I might take that against the potential high pick and Hughes.
Good job GMs.

Not a Hughes fan. I think Connor is going to wind up a much better player... that said, not sure about the value here.

There's next to no risk here. Jack Hughes is no Yakupov.
And a 1st was added? Is it at least protected? Was any cap sent?
I like Connor but this seems like an absolute steal of a deal for the Ducks.

I agree this is very good for the Ducks. I like Connor and the jets are my 2nd team but Hughes still re drafts 1st so they basically got a 1st overall pick, a 1st and a young 3rd liner for Connor and a #6. Connor is a stud though, he will help the sens a lot

From my perspective it is probably an overpayment but I'm a huge fan of Connor, he's progressively gotten better every year and at 23 is 12th in NHL scoring. Hughes worries me, he's probably been rushed to the NHL and being stuck on that team isn't going to do him any favors. If Hughes is able to match the lofty expectations within a few years this trade doesn't look great but if he languishes it works out.
