Default I love Chinooks

Sure, they cause some headaches due to the pressure change, but when it's -30 out, having some warm temperature is nice when walking to the c-train. Besides, pretty much everyone is in a better mood during a Chinook.

Chinooks rule!

It's never -30... But boy do I love the cold! Nothing is better than peeling your frozen sack from your leg.

I love how they melt the snow just enough for really hard snowballs. I said that in the other thread though.

it's actually a Southern Alberta thing...but I think they happen in other parts of the world under different names..

Ah, well even so, Southern Alberta is still Canada opposed to the U.S., so I wouldn't know anything about it

I guess it's just supet hot, dry winds from that definition? Sounds like that could be quite uncomfortable...almost like the insanely high humidity we can get here at times in Florida.

Not even close. Not super hot at all, just a little less cold then usuall for this time of year. A nice little break from the freezing cold weather, but still not hot or uncomfortable.

Chinooks are wonderful. It's still winter, but the warm breeze makes everything more tolerable.

Ah, I think I understand more. I must've been thinking in Florida terms. Here the winter is actually the nice part of the year. From like October 15th (yes, it's weird, it's usually that exact date) til about the end of April we have what I like to refer to as "cloud-less clear blue sky days" The humidity goes away and the temps range from about 45-65 on good days. (Faherinheit of course, sorry for no conversion)

Anyway, in other words, if we here were to get something like that Chinook, it would probably bump us back into the temperature bracket we don't normally like to be in...the one that makes you sweat

Usually Foxhollow is open as long as there isn't snow on the ground.

Switching Chinook threads!!!????

If we're selling Chinook Arch's then I'll move these shots from Jordan's thread over to this one . . . . . from Saturday night:

Shifting colours, early sunset:

And later on . . . . . note the shadows from the underlying clouds on the top layer near the edge of the cloud . . .

Chinooks are just a relief from the tedium of winter.

I must say that I love Chinooks. The weather seems so warm sometimes that you could hit a few patios if they where open.
