I was a Lundmark fan. He put up decent points for the amount of games he played here, and maybe I'm wrong but I thought he was a pretty decent special teams guy
Of all the tweeners we seemed to always have an abundance of, I always liked Lundmark and Dawes
Just finished a book of Marko "Jarna" Jantunen, who played 3 games in Calgary. Jantunen was an alcoholic during his career, and those problems were there when he was a Flame. He was pretty good point-wise in St. John Flames, and according to the book he was close to be called up to Calgary sometime, but Jantunen himself was pretty stubborn and really wanted to be a star immediately, so he just decided to get back to Sweden, where he was a fan favourite. Jantunen told that during that short time in Calgary he especially enjoyed Theo Fleury's company, who also liked to drink. Fleury seemed to be a person and a star who Jantunen also wanted to be.
Jantunen's lavish spending and alcohol addict eventually got him to use drugs (cocaine and amfetamine). He used drugs during his last pro years in Finland. After his career was over, he started to use amfetamine more and more, and got absolutely bankrupt. He was in huge debt to some drug lords, and got beaten many times. Jantunen also was close to being killed because of those debts. He was homeless and had to steal to get some food etc.. This lifestyle continued about three years, until some drug lord threatened to kill Jantunen's ex wife and his two sons, which was the wake up call for him. He started the Minnesota Model of addiction treatment and is nowadays sober and clean, and enjoying life.
Thought this was an interesting thing to share here. Jantunen himself said that he regrets of leaving the NHL like that, and speculates what if... He was a lazy trainee and used a lot alcohol, but his skating was unbelievably good, and when he was young, he was among the best Finnish prospects at the age of 23-25. For example, in 93-94 he played in TPS's first line with Saku Koivu and Jere Lehtinen. He also told that when he was trying to get off the drugs, he contacted Koivu and Lehtinen, who supported Jarna.
So that was the Marko Jantunen story summarized. #45 vote belongs to Lundmark.
