Isles pick up two guys with three names
To quote New York Islanders GM TheScorpion, "any day without making a trade is a day wasted."
Well, TheScorpion ensured Saturday would not go to waste when, early in the afternoon, he completed a trade with the Dallas Stars.
The deal saw Mattias Janmark Nyln and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare head to New York while prospects Jerad Rosburg and Lane Pederson became Stars property.
"Janmark is a guy with solid offensive upside and good defensive pedigree who we'll play in the middle-six," said TheScorpion. "Bellemare is a top-notch grinder at a beautiful cheap salary."
Confusion among Islanders fans reached TheScorpion who addressed the common question from Islanders media and faithful: what is the meaning of the symbol in Janmark's third name?
"I don't know, it shows up in the database. Maybe it's part of his name or maybe our commissioner is just too lazy and sanctimonious to fix such pressing issues, instead focusing on such unimportant tasks like successfully making sure the draft runs smoothly and all that minutiae," said TheScorpion. "As for what that symbol is hiding... gosh, maybe he sleeps on a nylon mattress. That might be uncomfortable."
At this point, Islanders media and fans began to laugh so hard at TheScorpion's immeasurable wit that they had to call off the rest of the press conference.
The New York Islanders' forwards:
Lee - Staal - Wheeler
Neal - Janmark - Brown
Anderson - Bellemare - Williams
Clutterbuck - Caggiula - Perry
Boyle/Ferland/Baertschi/Moore/Martin
