I can honestly say i dont ever remember the name Alec Connell and im a bit of a history buff in regards to the game. Then again its nearly a century ago.

They have had some great players through the years though. Really strong at RW, but the left is a bit if a dogs breakfast to say the least.

Mixed bag on D though there are a couple HOF guys and a 3rd who could be knocking on the door.

Bonk is their sixth highest scorer.

I don't mind them including the older Sens but not going overboard with them- 4 or 5 names seems right. its a nice set of D really for a 25 year history (plus Clancy)

where's Martin Havlat ? I seem to remember a Sens numbers obsessed poster back in the day who - when Iggy was near the top of the game used to come here all the time and say that the Sens had 4 or 5 players that were better than Iggy (including Havlat) because they all scored more points when they were 20- or some random age-

Looks like they are going the route of including previous NHL teams based in the city as well, so it answers how they will approach Winnipeg.

yeah it was stated in another thread that Winnipeg is going to include both NHL versions and the WHA version (so I guess we will see Hull and the Swedes)

Interesting goalies that's been through Ottawa: Ben Bishop, Hasek, and Robin Lehner.

My goalie picks would've been Steve Weeks and Ray Emery over what was selected. Surprised Bonk and Pageau are not in there.

He played a total of 7 games for them.

Emery i could see but not sure he qualifies in games played either.

The criteria;

Team: two goalies, six defencemen, 12 forwards and one foundational player
□ Members must have played at least 225 games with the Senators
□ At least one member of the all-time team must be from the 2019-20 Senators
□ Players are slotted in positions they played with the Senators
□ One line must be comprised of defensive standouts, aka a checking line
□ One pair must be comprised of suffocating defenders, aka a shutdown pair
□ Lines and pairs are put together because they fit together, not because they are necessarily the first, second and third best at their positions
□ Foundational players are defined as players part of the fabric – the DNA – of a franchise

Anderson and Lalime are the only goalies to have reached the 225 games played threshold with the Sens.

Alec Connell played 294 games with the original Sens. He's also the only qualifying goalie to have won the Cup with Ottawa.

Clint Benedict won three Cups in Ottawa and played 6 seasons for the Sens, but the seasons were so short back then, he didn't reach 225 games.

I gotta say they've had some great defenseman.

Dany “All-Star” Heatley, Spezza and Alfredsson were a fun line to watch, especially during the year they went on to the finals.

Cool story bro moment.

I was friends with a girl that dated him for a while when he was in Ottawa. I didn't talk to him much, but he seemed like a nice guy.

Shockingly I might actually pick this team to beat the Toronto roster. Ours would dominate them though lol.

I had all three of them in my playoff pool that year. Had it sewn up by midway through the third round. It was fun to watch them dominate.

That is my one and only notable memory about the Ottawa Senators.

Didn’t bend the rules enough to fit in One Eyed Frank McGee.
