had seen this story too much before (and god knows since)...was living in Montreal (and had been eagerly anticipating a Habs/Flames final- *spoiler*) so it was already pretty late there by the time OT started, we were in the middle of exams...OT started and I just started walking, and walking , and walking the streets of Montreal...pacing really...eventually I ducked into a tavern to check a TV screen- happy post game interviews
phew!

Smyl with the post and breakaway chance. How does he sleep? This has to be the best performance by a goalie in playoff OT history, considering the quality of chances against.
That was bananas. Amazing how close the Flames were to losing to a team 43 points lower in the standings. Thankfully they didn’t and we all know the history. But could you imagine? That would’ve been the most Calgary thing to do.

That was me in 2004. Was watching the game at my brother's place with some friends and once it went into OT I walked home. After the young guns era and Flames history of soul crushing round 1 playoff defeats I just couldn't stomach watching another. Once I got home my wife told me they won and I was on cloud 9.
I was at this game. 2 days later I was shipped out for basic training.
Besides the win, the best memory of this game was a couple leaving the game prior to overtime puck drop and my dad's buddy standing up and yelling "you need to be somewhere more important!!?"
of course they coulda had kids or whatever but we all laughed pretty good at that and the section basically booed them out of the rink.
the only thing that ever matched the intensity and thrill of this game was basically all of the 2004 playoffs.
