A bold amphibious escape bid by a bear at Berlin zoo has been foiled in a dramatic shoot-out.

Juan the Andean spectacled bear first paddled across a moat using a log for a raft, then scaled a wall.

Finally he appeared to commandeer a bicycle, before zookeepers with brooms cornered him, and a colleague picked him off with a tranquiliser gun

There seems to be a huge increase in animals escaping their enclosures. This bear, the gorilla they were talking about, there was another gorilla in another zoo I believe and some sort of large cat got out at another zoo. I wanna say tiger, but for some reason it may have been a jaguar, leopard, something like that.

Think they are planning something?

I didn't like the way the gophers were all standing and staring the last time I went down 22X...

I think something is up. Be afraid, be very afraid...

I'm with Daradon on this one. Remember that simpsons episode where the Dolphins took over? I think the animals are finally catching up, and they're kinda p*ssed at us.

Let's not forget the beer-drinking bear in Washington state, that drank 32 'premium' beers while ignoring the Budweiser. I hope they are interrogating that one, he may know what's up and if they give him more Rainer he may spill the beans.

Watched an interesting TLC show on animal intelligence, just basically showing how we might be underestimating a lot of them. In one experiement they made a 3D maze (sort of a twisting or pipe like objects with empty space in between) for a large spider and put something to bait it at he end of the maze.

The spider went to the highest point of the maze and just sat there for a few hours. Then came back down and did the maze correctly FIRST TRY!!!

Like I needed another reason to be scared of spiders...

Heh, that beer story with the bear was hilarious. I also remember they set up three traps for him cause they had to remove him from the area. One had some sort of meat, one had honey, and one had two more cans of Rainer...

One guess which one they found him in...

EDIT: typos

Mammals I can handle. But I'll be sh**ting my pants when the insects (and other arthropods) decide to rise up.
