Bennett likely still getting over the flu but I would expect him back in the lineup tonight.

Unless he stays in L.A. and we take Toffoli with us.

I'd dress Davidson as well, over Yelesin.

I'd sure like to sit Jankowski but I don't know that they can manage it. He's so low energy out there. With his frame he could be an effective forechecker and backchecker, but he just waves at guys going by and looks for someone else to cover gently.

Agree that Davidson will likely slot in tonight but beside Yelesin who looked just fine despite some obvious jitters.

I'd take Kylington out.

Was Rieder that much worse at C than Jankowski? Despite not even being his natural position?

Maybe that's the play.

Nice write up...

The 2 on none goal made up for the AHL goalie giving the Flames the 1st goal, except that the goalie was the clear goat on the Flames first gift goal and all 6 Flames on the ice conspired to give it back.

The player that was only identified as "defenseman" in your blistering critic of Hanifin's pinch play that led to Wagner's breakaway goal was Andersson.

This game goes to show that every team has NHL calibre players that are harder to beat on the ice than on paper.

Reider is listed as a C on some sites, so somewhere along the line he played it. Dube played C in junior. Bennett too, obv.

Or call someone up - I'm not a huge Czarnik fan but he plays C as well, and I think he'd have more energy than Jankowski on a call-up. Quine is a C and has 42 points in 33 games. Gawdin is a C and has 40 in 44.

Jankowski is good at one thing - PKs. But so is Reider, Backlund is fine as well. Bennett can do it, I bet Rinaldo is OK on the PK with his speed, physicality and energy.

For tonight against a heavy Ducks team, how about sitting Jankowski, dressing Robinson (or was he sent back)?

Too short notice for call ups I'd think (and the Flames rather a player have a few practices under their belt before playing).

Robinson could draw in on the wing, but likely to spell Rinaldo.

Bennett-Rieder-Robinson rather than Rinaldo-Jankowski-Rieder?

Couldn't be worse I suppose, though the latter line had a heck of a game against San Jose. No one played up to their (albeit limited) potential last night on the 4L.

I was almost convinced his back condition was worsening and with it his career in jeopardy in the not too distant future.
I know that wasn't the intention of the sentence but the first thing that came to my mind was the old "wink wink" can't play anymore Hossa type situations.

Speaking of the flu, maybe a couple guys were a touch under the weather last night. Monahan had a great game against SJ despite no goals - he was really involved. Last night was way different. I thought Tkachuk was lower energy as well. Stone and Janko also had sluggish feet but with them it's harder to tell.
They did say it was running thru the team and Ryan Leslie had it too.

It was Andersson for sure, and I'm actually surprised I didn't name him. I intended to.

Thanks for the catch, I'll fix it.

The AHL goalie sports a .923 GAA in the NHL, and made a pretty good goalie in Jack Campbell expendable. I bet Buffalo wishes they'd been able to sign him.
