Flames Flames @ Canucks, 8:00 MST. HNIC, Fan 960

amid all the negativity and malaise, there's still a game to be played tonight and a thread to be started. Damn, it's tough to be a fan these days.

Hockey Day in Canada. This game tops the sundae.

Spoiler!

Go Flames. Just win.

Hop the boards, swat at pucks, shoot wide, go for a change. Repeat. Lose. Sell.

Tough game for the Flames. Canucks have a built a solid team, deep up front, a stud 20 year old dman, good goaltending and a better coach. Benning’s work has been impressive, slowly building this team and with all their best players being under 25 they are set for awhile. Hopefully the Flames give them a competitive game.

First live Flames game in two years! First one in Vancouver in a decade!! I was at the 4-3 cammy hat-trick game, the 4-3 shoot-out win where TKO felled Bieksa and Luongo’s shuttlepad went over the line with the puck and another win that escapes my memory.

Going with a 4-3 win! I’ll be wearing my Tkachuk jersey so let’s see a chucky hat-trick!

GOFLAMESGO!

Expecting a loss. Or the flames show up and win the only way they know how, by the skin of their teeth,in a shootout.

If pettersson back, flames give up 4+ and score less than 2.

So frustrating, I hate years where I hate the flames team.

It will be a repeat of the last meeting don't have any high hope's. Hoping our GM is working on getting a better coach and not leaving it until we miss the playoffs or are swept in the first round.

Must win? Flames could be sitting in top 10 pick territory by end of the night. Or they could keep there wildcard position.

This team is going to show some testicular fortitude and start an 8 game winning streak. You heard it here first! GFG!

Hopefully getting called out by the coach gives them enough juice to put together a consistent effort. Need a big road trip here.

Team is in disarray. No one wants to be a Calgary Flame these days. Sad.

As i put in an another thread, this is the game that will probably determine if they are sellers this year. A loss tonight and they are on the outside looking in and will have not recently beat any of the teams they are fighting with for playoff spots.

A win and they are only 3 points back of divsion lead, with a bunch of should be winnable games leading up to the deadline. As bad as it is right now for the flames, it's not unconceivable that they could still win the division.

Go Flames Go!!!

While a win in one game is certainly going to make a difference in the standings, it will do little to show us that Calgary is actually a decent team.

The -25 goal differential signifies that they have a long way to go before they are considered true contenders. Their team is a true outlier among the playoff and bubble teams.

Now, if they put together a stretch of 5-6 games where Johnny looks and plays like the Johnny of old, that might make a difference. But squeaking out a shoot out win over Vancouver likely means little in the grand scheme of things.

I find it an absolute joke that Bennett is back down to playing with Jankowski. He's been our best forward since the AllStar break, but hey - back to the 4th line ya.
