I agree with Dan, I won't say I don't care because I do. I hate how much this guy is being glorified. Sure, he was a great player but he was still a rapist. People are going to pay tribute to all the good this guy has done but ignore the bad and it's wrong. I lost any respect I had for Gibson.

Kobe was incredibly well-respected by good men and women who knew him from all over the world. The only "rapist" comments I've seen from anyone are from people who read a headline 20 years ago and haven't bothered to read anything since.

Edit: Even if you're the kind of person who thinks one single action should irreparably define an entire person's existence, with zero hope of redemption, that's certainly your prerogative; but his 13 year old daughter and 7 other people died along with him too.

I voted indifferent. I agree with you that we may be shouldn't keep on calling him a rapist, and honestly, I didn't know anything about things he did for women's causes because I didn't like him after that first incident. As much as we shouldn't keep bringing up his first indiscretion, IMHO, we shouldn't give him credit for saving his marriage and raising his daughters. They are his daughters for Christ sake, it his responsibility to take care of them.

Kobe is a human being, anytime a human being loss his life is a sad thing. Feel sad for him and his little daughter along with 7 other people. Pay tribute to him if you are a fan but painting him as a glorified hero that's larger than life is something I feel over doing it.

Then of course, this is just my own opinion.

“Questionable sexual encounter” is an interesting word salad for rape but K. I’ve heard all the great things he’s done since to become a better person and that’s great, it really is but don’t soften and diminish the rape please. It’s a slap to sexual assault victims IMO.

I think Demko had something Kobe related on his back plate the other night against the blues.

Saved his marriage by buying his wife a 4M diamond lol

If he was broke like the rest of us she would have hit the road...nice mask though

Chris Rock would say don't brag about something a normal man just does

The guy paid to make his crime go away then paid his wife to stay with him. I'm not sad he died, I'm sad his daughter did.

I guess if you have enough money it is ok to pay for forgiveness after not asking permission

Kobe had a complex history. I cringe more than a little at the abundance of glorification happening, but I don't fault people (too much) for how they feel.

I appreciate anybody who brings balance to the conversation, even if it is a little crass, or overstated.

I cringe A LOT at people who shout down the warranted criticism.

Good people with flaws die every day. So do bad people with redeeming qualities. It is always sad for their families.

Litigating a dead guy's legacy is ultimately meaningless, but there are lessons to consider about how/why we glorify/support people who are still living.

I know the girl that accused him of rape and was given the details of the event a long time ago.

He was a cheater, not a rapist.
