It's really a shame how he left the Stamps and the CFL. Someone like that should be allowed to leave on his terms. He did amazing things with the Stamps.

I remember when Wally wouldn't resign him. That's one thing I wish Wally would have done different. Pitts is my all time favorite Stampeder. looking forward to eeing him honored on Labour Day!

If anyone deserves to be honoured, it's him. Also one of my fav Stampeders all time. Good stuff.

Agreed Pitts was one the best players in Stamps and CFL history.

Garcia to Pitts was the best.

I hope he can get across the border.

I think they should just retire his number and hang his name up on the west side. Until they do, he isn't getting the credit he deserves. Undoubtedly the greatest Stamps receiver ever, and arguably one of the greatest in the history of the league.

The "trunk-full-of-steroids-at-the-border" incident didn't do him any favours. I think that's why the black cloud continues to follow him around.

he was a great player.. that is one thing that has to change with the CFL, the way they get rid of their great players, they just get disgarded. Alondra is another example. there has to be a way with the salary cap to perhaps have a player like this exempt for his final year, so he can leave with dignity.. i'm sure even Pitts cant be happy with how far this team has fallen.

George Johnson piles on Pitts on his special day:

"Pitts Remains as Elusive as Ever"

Uncalled for IMO; we all know that Pitts was surly and shy, but why dump all over him on this special occasion?

The Calgary Sun story:

http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/CalgarySun/S.../07/618497.html

I think Pitts was genuinely overwhelmed and was unable to face the media.

That's George Johnson for ya...

I loved the tribute to Pitts at half time. The video tribute expecially was very touching and special. I thought Pitts looked very pleased and happy.

It'll be nice looking up at his #18 on the West Side and remembering the quality receiver he was. Good on ya Allen!

I was at the game, and the halftime presentation didn't interfere with my beer runs, so I saw the whole thing. Now I'm not a Stamps fan, but I joined in the standing ovations we gave him. On the field he was one of the best players I've ever seen play.

However there were people who were saying things like "I'm never buying Dewalt tools ever again." (After they presented him with $5000 worth of tools.)

I'm glad they retired his number. And he seemed choked up when they gave him his new truck. A classy move by the Stamps to honour somebody who made this team great in the 90's.
