SKID SNAPPED
The Flames finally ended their six-game winless skid with Saturday’s 3-2 shootout triumph against the Philadelphia Flyers . They once again surrendered the opening goal — that’s now nine straight games for that horrible habit — and trailed late, too, but Elias Lindholm buried the equalizer with just 83 seconds remaining in regulation and Matthew Tkachuk scored the lone snipe in the skills competition. David Rittich finished with 36 saves. “We’re not making it easy on ourselves obviously, and we didn’t (Saturday),” said bench boss Bill Peters. “But a good resilient effort and a good win.”
SID SIDELINED
Penguins captain and superstar centre Sidney Crosby is currently on the shelf after sports hernia surgery. The 32-year-old Crosby, a fixture in any conversation about the NHL’s best of the bunch, likely won’t be back in action until after Christmas. The Penguins notched a 4-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils in their latest outing and have scratched out a 2-1-3 record so far without No. 87 in their lineup.
INJURIES
Flames — LW Sam Bennett (shoulder), RW Austin Czarnik (lower body), D Travis Hamonic (lower body), D Juuso Valimaki (knee)
Penguins — C Nick Bjugstad (lower body), C Sidney Crosby (core muscle surgery), D Justin Schultz (lower body)
Brodie to be GTD Monday
Flames' defenceman returned to practice for the first time since joining the team on their current three-game road trip. Brodie has not played since collapsing during practice on Thursday, November 14. He will be a game-time decision for Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Penguins could also receive a big boost Monday, with all signs pointing to Kris Letang’s return to the lineup. The 32-year-old has missed the past three weeks due to a lower-body injury but was practising Sunday in his usual spot on the top pair and first power-play unit. Letang has averaged nearly a point per game in 15 career contests against the Flames, with three goals and 11 helpers in those matchups.

T.J. Brodie is skating on a pairing with Mark Giordano...looks like he’ll return to #Flames line-up vs. #LetsGoPens tonight. #CGYvsPIT
Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames top pair at morning skate in Pittsburgh — Giordano and Brodie.
Looks like Rieder will play on fourth line, Davidson and Rinaldo will be scratched.

As I recall, I had technical difficulties posting this to the game thread back in February. It did eventually get posted, but since this hasn't appeared in an actual game thread it's technically new - the lost episode of The Puppet Chronicles surfaces!
When the losing streak ended on the weekend many were joking about having a parade. Well, That Darn Puppet led one, alright...
Spoiler!
Go Flams!

I have no idea what to expect in this one. But if the Flames actually show up to play, I like our chances against a Sid-less Penguins team. Hopefully Brodie's return gives the team a boost.
I honestly didn't mind Rinaldo in the lineup. He adds more than Reider
I am happy Brodie is back for sure. As much as he is maligned and the team is not playing well, his stats are decent still. Was on pace for 32 points and is currently a 0 plus minus.
Very happy to see Brodano back together. Not seeing Brodie play the past couple games really brought to light how important he is. The D just doesn't look/feel the same without him.

Win or lose, just frigin find your game already. The flames have what, 1 complete game played this year (the jersey game that I didn't even get to watch). Show up on time, play hard for 3 periods, that's all I ask. I'm already at a point, where I'm just as satisfied with a W as I am with a L, but watching paid athletes play with some heart & passion, would sure be a welcomed change this season.
1. Will the Flames score a goal in the first period?
2. Will the Flames, at any point in the game tonight, take a lead?
