VPN Recommendations
I know we have probably had this discussion before, but VPN being 3 characters doesn't show up in the search.
Does anybody have any recommendations for a VPN to use on an iPhone? The purpose being, I will be in the US next week, and I need my phone to look like it's in Canada.
I don't mind paying a bit for something that is good.

I use NordVPN. I got a crazy deal on 3 years for something like $50. But if you need to look like you're in Canada for streaming I've read that ExpressVPN is the best for Netflix but I haven't tested it myself.

I have had no issues with it. I get good speed (200mbps on fast.com) and they have great security. The phone apps are solid. I don't use it for streaming but I could test it.

I use PIA and it has been great. I used to use the proxy settings in applications but ended up getting notifications because of DNS links. After that I just ran the desktop application, set my location to somewhere in Europe that had port forwarding, and everything has been going great. On my 300 Mbps connection, I get around 30-50 Mbps throughput (again, using the location in Europe).

I switched over to protonmail because of its encryption, and they also offer a free VPN, which I use and have had no issues with. This is just the free version, limited to 3 devices I think? Anyway, worth a look...

What kind of router do you use at home?
For anything that requires a Canadian presence when I travel I use the free OpenVPN client that connects to my router at home. This has worked for geo-restricted streaming services for me.

NordVPN is great. I ditched PIA and don't regret it at all. NordVPN is much faster.

Express VPN is what I use. It is one of the only ones that consistently works for Netflix(most countries you can watch, USA, England etc) and also will work with Amazon Prime Video USA and England. You just need to speak with customer service and ask them which locations currently works for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video and the regions.

This is also what I do. Back when Shaw only gave me 2.5 Mbps upload speed, it wasn't great for streaming through the VPN tunnel. Now that I get 15 - easy peasy.

Another vote for Nord.
Was on HMA, find Nord to be much quicker. Has at least 3 locations in Canada last I checked.

Thanks for the input everybody. I'm going to give Nord a try. They offer a free 1 week trial, so I'll activate that just before I go.

And to report back, Nord worked like a Gem for me; for the 3 hours I needed it on Thursday.

My year with PIA is up soon, and while have been very pleased with it, I'll look at Nord

Cant you just tell your wife you dropped the phone into the toilet at the 'conference' in Winnipeg you had to attend for 'work'?
That buys you a few days in Vegas
