Lee Stempniak doesn't retire. He hibernates.

That post from the NHLPA does a disservice not mentioning how many teams he played for, because he has to be close to the record

holy cow, I didn't realize he became such a journeyman. Knew he got around a fair bit, but 10 teams is crazy.

Point is, I shouldn't have to Google it because playing for a lot of teams is the most notable thing about Stempniak's career. It would be like if Ovechkin retired and they didn't include how many goals he scored in his retirement tweet.

BTW it looks like he's in a multi-player tie for 2nd all time. 1st all-time is still Mike Sillinger with 12.

Yes I agree with you, just saving others the effort.

Vegas should sign him to a oneday contract so that he can retire with them, and hold the record.

He would have to do that with 3 teams in order to hold the record.

2nd in '+/-' with a +2 to Stajan's +7. Kipper with a 3.44 gaa.

Eeked out a pretty respectable career for a fifth round pick. Earned over $24M in that time. Good for him. Happy retirement, Lee!

He played for 10 NHL teams. He is in a 7-way tie for 2nd most amount of teams played for.

Mike Sillinger of Detroit, Anaheim, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Florida, Ottawa, Columbus, Phoenix, St.Louis, Nashville and NYI fame, has the record of 12 teams played for.

Incidentally, for Stempniak's 10 team service record. Former Flames Michel Petit and Olli Jokinen are among those 7 people who have played for 10 teams.

Solid player.

13 seasons, 911 games, career 0.5PPG, 200 goals and generally pushed play in the right direction. All the best to him in whatever he does next.

Without doing any research, I'm guessing the undisputed champion for this record would be Mike Sillinger.

Pretty good career for a player who was never a marquee name, yet found a way to stick around.

Him playing for 10 teams is pretty crazy, but also pretty cool. I admire people who have lived in multiple places over the span of their career.

Retire in Peace Stempniak.

Guy was like the Energizer Bunny, just when you think he's done he kept going and going and going.

And screw Ference, Stempniak didn't deserve to get attacked and his teeth knocked out for a clean hit you jerk.
