Panthers Lose to a Tough Opponent
3-2 OT Loss

The Panthers winning streak finally came to an end on Sunday as they were defeated in OT by the COlumbus Blue Jackets.

"We played a great game but we just came up a little short" Said Penney. "We still managed to get a point out of the game but we felt that we deserved two."

The Panthers have outshot every team they have faced so far this season. The offence has struggled the past two games and GM penney will try to get it clicking again when they face the Panthers on Tuesday night.

"The games don't get any easier for us" said Penney. "We would love nothing more than to rebound with a win against a young Wild team".

Rumor out of Florida suggests that GM Penney might decide to start Steve Shields on Tuesday night. Confidence in Shields is key to getting the Panthers far this season.

HAWKS COLLAPSE

The Chicago Blackhawks suffered a monumental defensive meltdown as they allowed the Country Boys from Nashville to trounce them 6-0.

The Hawks had plenty of SOG, but Robert Esche was much more fatigued that we thought. And the defense forgot to play at all.

Shameful shameful. We are taking a bus back to Chicago. Team unity and nonstop Dixie Chicks and Clint Black. Just to remind the boys that indeed we were there to play a hockey game.

We fear that Jim Bob is going to think he is really a good coach after this blowout. He was heard to proclaim as the Hawks skated off the ice ""I been to two county fairs and a goat ropin' and I ain't never seen nothing like this"

We haven't either Jim Bob

Flames have offensive outburst against Avs
Goaltending a concern though

Steven Reinprecht musta thought he had died and gone to heaven after being reassigned to the LW position on the number one line.
Being centred by Dave Scatchard and linemate Jarome Iginla, Rhino went on an offensive outburst potting 4 goals and an assist.
"The had called my mothers name for the Safeway Score and Win contest and I missed it by just one. Guess I am going to have to write her that cheque for a million dollars."
Rhino's scoring prowness led the Flames to a 9-4 victory over the Avs. Other notable Flames were:

Iginla with 3 pts and a +5 rating. Newly acquired Sergei Gonchar with 3 pts and a +5 rating and Marty Reasoner with 2 goals and an assist. Leopold was a +6 rating on the night but only added one assist. Scatchard was a +5.

Goaltender Mikka Kiprusoff is slowly getting into Axmann;s doghouse though due to his allowing 4 goals on just 23 shots. "Goaltending must improve if we are going to make a run. Hopefully when Brian gets back he can either start to push Mikka a bit or even possibly overtake him"

Next up are the Mighty Mighty Predators...ooooooooooooooo

Game Stars

1 - Steven Reinprecht (FLA)
2 - Marty Reasoner (FLA)
3 - Dave Scatchard (FLA)

Flames GM Axmann is going on a road scouting trip as of tuesday October 18 to Sunny California and wont be returning til October 24. However Axmann was quoted as saying that he will have his laptop with him but availability might be limited.
