Icon27 Stars sign Pavelski (3yrs, $7mil AAV)

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Dallas Stars are hoping to add two veteran forwards. Pavelski expected to sign a 3 year contract with the Stars and it’s believed Dallas is also an option for Corey Perry.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod
Looks like Joe Pavelski will sign a three-year contract with Dallas tomorrow. Sounds like the AAV will be in the neighborhood of $7M.

Hopefully this helps make San Jose much, much worse.

I'm sick of them.

Pavelski is a good player but that’s a pretty high cap hit for a guy his age. Term isn’t too bad but it could be Marleau 2.0.

Pavelski is one of those few guys who seems to age pretty well, given his style of play. That's a decent contract is he puts up his usual numbers.

Hopefully this hurts the Sharks more than anything. Losing their captain for nothing is a pretty big loss.

Glad to see Pavelski leaving San Jose even at the expense of making Dallas a legit contender.

Yeah this does feel a lot like the Marleau signing. That 3rd year could be ugly.

Yeah I think they’ll get at least a year of good hockey from him and probably two. That last year could hurt though.

Agreed on the Sharks. I’m sick of those clowns.

Hard to say whether he falls off a cliff, but he's not all that heavily reliant on skating. It's not like his hand eye is going to disappear. I don't hate this.

So lame that everything was leaked the night before. I don't like reading that the preds and stars got notably better.

I wonder where Commodore gets his information. He must have connections somewhere in the front office or do players leak this info out to him? Lol maybe there is a big whatsapp group with all NHL players in it.

Mostly other players and what they get from their agents, Commodore is extremely well liked and his buddy's love to feed him info to get the juices going, I think he's more connected than 95% of the media. His phone has over 500 contacts...crazy!

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Full NTC in first two years of the deal, then modified no-trade in year 3, due to expansion draft. Again, it's three years x $7M aav

Love this for the Stars. In the Benn/Seguin era they've always seemed like a one line team to me. This should help them spread out the offense with some flexibility.

Man, Gagliardi not shy about opening his wallet this year. 10.5 million for Pavelski, Perry and Sekera, 2.5 million of cap space left. They’ve got to be done for the day.

I am surprised Pavelski didn't stay with SJ for less.
Hard to turn down 7m per though. Dallas just got better maybe year 3 he will slow down who knows, but he definitely has great hands.

This is a good move by Dallas and not a terrible term. Could prove to be great value and if Calgary could have been in on this would have been massive.
