I'm surprised, I thought that once Sweden got their government(s) on board, it would be theirs.

It should be us.

Here we go with the Milan/Milano garbage I bet.
Unless you're speaking Italian, the Olympics are in Milan Italy. Not Milano, Italy. which Makes no sense. If it's Milano it's Milano Italia.

 God damn it.

Just like in 2006 with Turin or Torino, Italia/Italy. At least there's no debate on how Cortina d'Ampezzo is said.Quote:

 Londres
 Edimbourg
 Moscou
 Terre-Neuve
 Nouvelle Orleans

Even if you change your city name they still call it the old way like Pekin, Canton, Bombay.

Obviously not cause we are saying Torino and Milano.
And we say Chennai. The French still call it Madras.

Care to elaborate? Are you talking about the IOC planning, Italy's planning? As far as I can tell, this Milano bid looks to be planned properly. I can't wait to see the closing ceremonies held in the Verona amphitheater. I visited it once and it is remarkable!

In your day to day life has anyone said they're visiting Milano? Or Italia?
I've literally never heard anything refer to Milan as Milano in English.

			Good luck with that Milan.
Meanwhile in Calgary we'll keep our powder dry for a protracted economic slowdown thanks to our benevolent federal government and try to clean up the massive municipal budget deficit hole that's causing the city to jack up taxes on businesses already hanging on by their fingernails. That'll be a lot easier to do while avoiding tossing hundreds of millions of dollars down a pit to host an Olympics for a country that blockades us, upgrades to sliding infrastructure in a BC town whose mayor recently tried to extort money from one of our biggest employers, and a 5,000 seat arena that nobody in this city wants or needs, among other wastes of funds. Thank goodness the majority of Calgarians struck down this international grab ass soire boondoggle that wasn't even going to net us a new arena, I wish Milan and cortina d'ampezzo all the best.

Good luck trying to run an olympic games on a $2billioncdn budget and a $187million contingency fund.

		| Finances:
The most significant difference between Milan-Cortina’s winning bid and Calgary’s abandoned plan comes down to dollars.

The plan proposed by the Italian contingent estimates just over $2 billion CAD in expenditures to host the event compared to Calgary’s planned price tag of $5.1 billion.

The biggest gap between the two balance sheets is in the contingency costs. While the crafters of Calgary’s plan had built in a hefty $1.1 billion contingency fund, Milan-Cortina’s is a mere $187 million. The IOC’s appraisal of the emergency fund did raise the spectre of a “moderate” risk “given the state of budget preparation.”
