Default Practice Notes April 8 - Playoff prep time

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Good morning from the Dome ya'll. We've got Alan Quine, Dillon Dube and Austin Czarnik in grey jerseys, likely distinguishing them as extras.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames LW Sam Bennett is on the ice for practice at Saddledome.

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Mike Smith is in the starter's net, for what it's worth.

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Both Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan are on the ice this morning. Everyone seems accounted for. #Flames

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
If I were to read into Jersey colors in practice, #Flames lines could shake down as follows:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm (red)
Tkachuk-Backlubd-Frolik (red)
Bennett-Jankowski-Neal (white)
Mangiapane-Ryan-Hathaway (white)
Dube-Quine-Czarnik (grey)

I assume then that Dube's recall becomes a regular one with all hands on deck?

After Stockton's season ends. Their last game is on April 14, so they'd probably be up sometime soon around then.

I love that line-up and how it matches up against Colorado. Hope our 4th line keeps on firing and Neal continues his improved play.

This lineup looks pretty good to me. I think we match up great against anyone; all we need now is a massive chip on our shoulders.

Come on, media. Let's get some more "Flames are irrelevant" talk going!

Very good news to see a fully healthy starting line-up heading into the playoffs.

Also really like the lines and d-pairs. I don't think I would change a thing, at least to start.

I've preferred Rittich to Smith all year, but honestly, Smith has been a lot better since the all-star break than he was earlier in the season, and both are playing pretty close to the same right now, so I can't fault the decision to stat Smith at all (if that's what happens here). Go with the experienced vet. Plus he does add a dimension with his puck handling.

Exciting times!

I think this is what we all kind of assumed the rosters would like like.

I would however like to see Valamaki slot in at some point, I feel he brings a bit more than Fatenburg at this point, but regardless I think that 6th D spot likely could rotate depending on how the first game goes.

I know he's young, but I feel he's just reliable at all times.

The DAG line is going to tear the Colorado Avalanche a new #######.

Presumably, yes. Now that the regular season is over (and until Stockton's season is over) they can have up to 4 players on the roster who are on regular recalls. It is no longer limited to the number of recalls, just the number of recalled players.

They currently have 3 recalled players: Quine, Dube, and Valimaki. They could recall one more player if they wanted, but probably won't bother until the Heat's season is over and they can recall as many as they want.

Excellent work by Mangiapane down the stretch to lock up a spot for himself in the playoffs. I was never sure about him earlier but I am starting to really believe he can become a regular scoring Top 9 guy in the NHL.

Love our defensive depth. Looks like the deck is stacked up and down the lineup for this run.
