Haha. Stay at home D man Fantenberg on the PP over Brodie?

Good lord.

It is not an utterly outlandish idea. Brodie had four PP points this year, which is the same number of PP points that Fantenberg recorded in his first NHL season, but in only 27 games.

But I do tend to agree. This is not something that is likely to happen—especially not now.

Danny Austin @DannyAustin_9
Sean Monahan was out the practising, but left the ice.
Hasn't come back yet, although I'm not gonna lie, I assume it was an equipment thing because nothing especially notable happened

Yeah I just knew Fantenberg had 1 point in 14 games this year, vs 34 in 78 for TJ

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
Juuso Valimaki, Oliver Kylington and Dillon Dube were on ice early this morning for skills work. Guessing Bill Peters thinks 10 D is too many for practice. (He mentioned before this might happen.)

Its pretty simple, Brodie has a muffin of a shot from the point. Fantenberg does not. Given the opportunity I think you would be surprised.

4 points on the PP this year seeing regular minutes with the 2nd unit. The second unit needs to keep it simple, get pucks to the point, shoot the puck and crash the net. Brodie I would argue has the worst shot on the back end when it comes to velocity. His shots are routinely weak and wide or blocked.

Why pick Brodie specifically when both Andersson and Backlund have more PP minutes and fewer PP points?

If you want to replace Brodie on PP2, then it should be Hanafin, not Fantenberg.

My interpretation of the news from practice:

Prout and Stone are your #7 and #8 defensemen headed into the playoffs.
Andersson is the "shooter" on PP2, Brodie is there for his puck handling and vision.

Peters proclamation that Bennett was totally fine and would play again in the regular season was more NHL nonsense. And pointless. Will we next hear that he has an illness, followed by upper body injury? Whatever it is, hopefully he is ready to go for game 1.

I think Peters' genuinely believed Bennett would be available for one of the last 2 games but the team doctor probably wants to keep him off and they get the final say for availability.

My take is that he will be fine, could probably go if he was really needed, but he isn't. Which was what I figured would happen anyway. These games are meaningless and Bennett is recovering from a few injuries. Zero reason to play. See you on the 11th, Sam.

Hope nothing's wrong with Rittich. We'll likely need both of our goalies to make any noise.

Monahan was sick today, which is why he left early. Possible he plays tomorrow.

Bennett won’t play tomorrow, but will be available for game one.

Coach Peters says guys who are able will play on game 82. Won’t play those who are banged up or under the weather. #Flames

Bennett as a charley horse/thigh injury...could be as simple as he was to sore to want to push things, so he gets a day off.
