Undelivered Furniture
Paid $500 for a couch. Upfront.
The furniture store said they can't deliver the couch I chose.
I have 1 year to choose another couch while they hold my money, otherwise the credit expires.
They're nice about it because of covid so I get 2 years.
Over the course of the 2 years I don't like any of their couch offerings.
Now this 'credit' is expired. I'm out $500. And I have no couch.
How is this legal? It's not, under the no-expiry gift card rules.
Conversely:
Westjet can take my money, put it into an expiring credit, and now I have not flown and have lost that money.
Prior to expiry I've tried multiple forms of getting to them: Online chat never goes anywhere. Phone line never gets through. Their online refund form doesn't do jack.
Why are there not more people talking about how wrong this is? I can't be the only one that ended up here.
