Flames Flames at Tampa Bay - Battle of the Heavyweights

Calgary at Tampa starting at 5pm MST.

https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/game/calgary-...tning-20190212

The Eastern Conference and league-leading Tampa Bay Lightning are the hosts.

The visitors are the Calgary Flames, one of the top teams in the Western Conference.

Tuesday's tilt has all the makings of a heavyweight tilt. Except that while the Lightning are flying high, the Flames are floundering.

The Flames have just one win in their last four games (1-2-1) and have seen what was a six-point edge on their Western Conference, and Pacific Division, rivals dissipate.

Suddenly the Flames are struggling defensively and can't find the goal-scoring touch that made them such a potent club through December and January.

Their last game, a 4-3 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night, was a prime example. The defeat came despite firing 47 shots on goal through overtime in a game that was one-sided everywhere but on the scoreboard.

Flames destroy the Bolts giving them a preview of the ass kicking they will receive in the SCF. GFG!

Flames are weird right now. They're playing like a team that should be coming out of a slump, yet I'm not convinced entirely they're in one. I hope what we're seeing is a team that was rolling being ground to a sudden stop and is now gearing up again.

The Flames won in impressive fashion in Tampa last year. They will do it again today.

Eric Francis @EricFrancis
James Neal said he lost 8 teeth Saturday, which pales in comparison to the 13 he lost early in his career. Teammates joking Neal needs subtitles when talking.

#### Tampa. Seriously. I hate Tampa.

The Team. The City. The Greater District. All of it.

If global warming and rising temperatures mean submerging Florida entirely I think we have to be calm, rational and seriously consider the benefits of it.

Come on now. Some of us live here, and it’s not always voluntary. Be nice.

Kypreos, Armstrong and the host (can't remember his name) on Hockey Central at Noon wondering why Marner doesn't set up behind the net like how Gretzky used to do. Goes on to wonder why nobody in the league does it. I guess they don't watch Calgary games since if they did, they'd see Johnny do this regularly and Tkachuk to a lesser extent. Johnny/Tkachuk from behind the net to Monahan/Backlund in the slot for the one timer happens quite often when defenders try to chase.

The neat thing is Johnny and Tkachuk make the play quite differently as Gaudreau will use his speed and elusiveness while Tkachuk will use his body to protect the puck and keep the defender away along the boards.

Imo games versus teams like TB are very important for BT too see how the Flames stack up against contenders and what they might need at the deadline.

Okay....fair enough. It is the only Reddit that I follow.

I never thought that throwing baby Alligators through a Wendy's Drive Through window would be as funny as it ended up being. Yet here we are.
