I must have downloaded a searchbar without realizing it (I was up until 6:30 am the other day doing online training, and was surfing and doing alot of stuff while waiting for modules to load and complete)
I was wondering how do I remove it, and every time I close IE when I open it up again, even if I changed the homepage it resets to http://www.iwantsearch.com/
it is possible to change that as well?

broke the first rule
|
I had that a while ago (7 months or so?)
I think what I did was just add/remove programs and it was gone.
Not 100% sure that was it, but try it out and hopefully it works. If not, stuff like spybot and adaware might get rid of it

Easy solution, scrap IE.
I feel like the guy from the Wendy's ads preaching like this all the time, but Firefox is just WAY better! You'll never have to deal with stupid stuff like spyware searchbars again.

Well, I guess its time I asked. I am not a big fan of change. And I think I have become very accustomed to IE. Is FireFox a big change? Does it take a while to get used to? I constantly hear good things about it but I am still gun shy. Thoughts?

Not a big change at all. The Netscape/mozilla/firefox interface has, over the years, become a lot more like IE in look and feel, it's just much faster. Probably the only difference you'll notice at first is different (yet similar) icons, and that 'favorites' is named 'bookmarks'. I have both at work, and I routinely forget which one I'm using.

KevinGuy, I litterally just downloaded it (well a few hours ago but then stuff came up) and it's really easy, it imports your "favourites" from IE, into Bookmarks, and well it's a bit cleaner in appearance
it's all basically the same to me, and I have no problems with this, the techies say it's better so I'll go with them

My face is a bum!

Firefox is a pain in the ass because of the constant need for "plugins" (which are 1,000,000 easier to install in IE when you actually need them). And I've found alot of pages where the activeX stuff is pretty nice to have (like London drugs photostation, with IE you can upload hundreds of pictures at once, Firefox you can only upload one at a time).
So basically I stick with the one that does it all: IE. And I've never had any real virus problems.

Just do what I do - run both. Installing Firefox doesn't mean you have to torch IE, it just sits there like an unusued program. For those sites where ActiveX or IE just plain works better, just fire it up for that.
I do like running Firefox though - fewer spy ware and weird crap polluting my system I've noticed.

Lifetime Suspension

Another question.
I signed up for a site called Aloofphoto hosting because it gives you a ton of space for free (so long as you generate traffic and therefore revenue for them ).
Well, I uploaded my photos to the server, and then created an album. Problem is, when I go to my website all I see is tiny little red x's where I think the thumbnail picture should be. When I click on those, it comes up 'can't find file." However, when I return to look at my account, I can see the pictures and also open them up.
Any ideas?
(keep in my mind - TOTAL newbie here).
The link to my site is:

Help!
Thanks:
Darren

Instead of changing browsers, you can run spybot, ad-aware, and hijackthis!.....All are available if you just search them in google.....
In Hijack this, you'll get a picture of your registry, in spaces where you see the infected sections, you can simply delete them or change their value.
