Really embarrassing to hear the boos when the Russian captain is called up to get his bronze medal

Meh, what he did after the semifinal game kinda justifies it. Throwing his helmet and giving the crowd an “eff you” and the finger as he’s going off the ice isn’t exactly classy himself.

He’s was getting a silly award just after he lost the chance at what is a milestone moment in his life...quite justified in giving zero ####s about getting that award. Then he gave an eff you to the crowd who was booing him at the time....it wasn’t just out of the blue.

Give these kids a break, they’re not seasoned professionals and shouldn’t be expected to always make the perfect choices. But to boo the kid in the subsequent game, that’s shameful!

Interesting read. Flames prospect Pospisil slams Slovakia coach and management in facebook post.

https://www.facebook.com/mpospisilof...072?__tn__=K-R

Google translate, which isn't perfect but you get the gist:
Spoiler!

I wonder if this brings change to the Slovakian program or ends up having Pospisil blacklisted by the Slovakian Hockey Federation

Yeah, let’s just excuse horrible behaviour that sets a terrible example for kids watching. It just perpetuates poor behaviour in the future.

You’re right though, booing probably is too far given they’re just kids.

Cut the soap opera drama act. Kids see 1000x worse behaviour every day in music videos and other media platforms. This guy is teenager, booing him for “not acting exactly right” is disgusting. He’s a kid, who boos a kid?!?!

I'd guess rule 595?

Under IIHF rule 595, play is blown dead if an opposing player stands in the goaltender's crease, regardless of where the puck is on the ice.

But then MacKenzie said it should be a good goal, so I dunno.

Yeah, I said that booing is too far.

But ya, who cares cause there’s worse out there!! Let’s not hold these players to any kind of sportsmanship standard because kids can just watch YouTube and see worse!

or maybe this under rule 471?

4. If an attacking player stands or holds his stick in the goal crease when the puck enters the goal net, unless he has been physically interfered with, by the action of any defending player so as to cause him to be in the goal crease when the puck enters the goal net, unless if in the opinion of the Referee, he had sufficient time to get out of the crease.

He’s 19 and playing in a professional men’s league. Not exactly a ‘kid’.

Losing their captain Talvitie is a big loss for Finland

Not just the skill, he's been a real leader.

1-0 for Finland on the PP, just past the half way mark of the game.

Missed a high stick on the US, while the US was on the PP too.

Pretty quick game.

Talvitie back after missing most of the period. Looks like his leg is still hurting though.
