UPD: Kevin Kurz: Bennett won't receive any supplemental discipline for hit on Simek
John Shannon @JSportsnet
League taking a long hard look at Bennett on Simek. Threshold is usually .6 seconds for late hits. This one is right on the edge.
News Update

Sam Bennett won’t receive any supplemental discipline for his hit on Radim Simek last night, I’ve been told

The hit might have been a bit late by Bennett. But hockey's a fast game, and we're talking 0.2 seconds in the heat of the moment. Easy for us to say when we have the luxury of video slow motion.
But as far as I'm concerned, the league made a pretty big statement when they did nothing about the Backlund hit, which was IMO a much worse head hit. If the hit on Backlund wasn't a suspension, then neither should Bennett's. Bennett's might have been late, but it wasn't a headshot.

The league needs to take some responsibility for missed calls that lead to emotions boiling over and causing this in the first place

If Dumba’s hit on Backlund was deemed clean then there is no reason this shouldn’t be; heck Bennett even made the principle point of contact his chest. Ridiculous officiating tonight where the refs completely lost the pulse of the game. That’s not on Bennett.
Late hit but no head shot. This shouldn’t be a suspension if somehow the Backlund/dumba hit wasn’t.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
