Three game losing streak isn't how you want to enter the Christmas break. But it gives an opportunity to refresh and rebound from the mini funk.

Also gives time to find a proper backup goalie that isn't Mike Smith.

Lose to those clowns. Embarrassing. No life in the building as well. Hate afternoon games.

Three games lost. What a bizarre and unfamiliar feeling this is.

Yeesh. Smith was bad and the coaching staff should have started Rittich, but you're not gonna win many games playing like that as well. Very poor effort all around from the Flames other than some good signs in the 2nd. Flames better be ready to go after the break - not gonna get easier.

That was a dull one, and a bad loss, but the Flames are in a good position going into the break. Time for a little rest and some strategizing about the second half of the season, including what to do with Neal and Smith.

My bet is Neal continues to get rope, but I'd be surprised if Treliving isn't already looking for more goaltending options. I don't have faith in Gilles at all and doubt they'd like to be relying on him in the playoffs either - particularly with the team looking like they have what it takes to make a real run.

Now, time for some World Juniors...

Johnny really needed to convert a couple of the MANY chances he had today.

If Tre’s not going to find another capable backup, Smith should be relegated to games that are only part of a back to back.

Yeah, not really. This is what the Flames are until at least the trade deadline. Even then I will be shocked if they trade for another goalie.

We're better than that.

I hate losing to worse teams like that. Come back after the break ready to play!

Lol, did John Shannon just call Jay Bouwmeester "one of the best defensemen in Flames history"?

I feel that you can't by default let Smith have it since these weak goals by all indications are going to continue. You gotta shop to see if you can find an alternative option at a reasonable price.

The Flames didn’t show up.

Poor compete level and below average execution by many top players.

Smith certainly was a reason for the loss, but he was far from being alone.

Take a look around. Unless Treliving is prepared to surrender significant assets there is not a goaltending upgrade available. It seems pretty clear to me that this is the tandem the Flames will run with this season. I certainly could be wrong, but I simply do not see any better options the Flames could acquire unless they paid a premium, and they definitely should not do that.

Even less watchable than the third period.

Smith sucked the life out of the team they didn't play any worse than the Blues.
