Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2020 - Round 30

It's time for the 8th annual Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking, but at a different time of year and certainly at a different time.

First a look back at previous years can be done with this handy link: Previous Results

Once again vote how you want. There are those that vote 100% on potential, some that vote 100% on the likelihood to see an NHL rink, others that apply a mix, some using the value in a trade. Completely up to you.

I'll run one a day until we are done, and then FlamesAddiction wants to do a one off list version to compare the results.

We start with 35 names so this should get us pretty close to a Flames camp.

Kouz, only based on his good showing at rookie camp last summer (2019).

After that Karnaukov, Sven, and Rafikov...

LOL at that one lonely vote for Mitchell Mattson. I'd take the Russians over him because at least they can play pro hockey. After university, Mattson's career will be over. He has 1 point over 36 games and 2 seasons. I rarely say this, but he has ZERO potential at an NHL career.

Karnaukov looks set to have a career year. Doubt he ever comes back here or even becomes more than a 3rd liner in the KHL, but that's still likely more than the rest of the guys left

Koumontzis because he is the youngest player left on the list.

Kirkland has already played more North American professional hockey than the rest of them are likely to do combined.

Filip Sveningsson. Swedish (isn't that enough!? : ). Still only 21. Super longshot, but moreso than the remaining lads.

At this point for my vote it's whoever will play a game in the NHL. Kirkland is the most likely of this list and the gap isn't close. He gets my vote.

Karnaukhov has already passed last year's production in less than half the number of games. Great progression from a prospect who has already spent two years playing in Calgary before.

Interesting that Kouz had a really solid rookie year in College with 20pts in 35 games, and then bombed in his second season with 8pts in 25 games. Injuries cutting in to his numbers?

I think we're at the "Who'd you like on your beer league team?" point of the exercise.
