Default Prout loaned to Stockton (AHL) for conditioning stint

Should help Stockton for a bit and get Prout some games. They don’t have a lot of RHD down there

Good. He needs to play if he's going to be ready when we eventually do need him.

Does he still count against the NHL roster limit during the stint?

He was still on the roster?

I thought he was in stockton a long time ago.

I can see this being what its all about.

Just watch. Dube gets demoted, Peluso called up. Czarnik plays Dube's minutes until that game, then Peluso & Prout dress. Andersson takes a night off.

So does this mean that no one on the roster is injured?

Seems like the Flames are quite fortunate in terms of health this year.

Has to pass through waivers in order to be demoted. Seems like they are afraid of losing him if they try.

Other than Hamonic and Dube, quite healthy, knock on wood.

No point losing depth at such a valuable position. He could play top 6 on some thin teams IMO. He’ll be useful if injuries hit. And if he ever gets some nhl time he might actually be worth a draft pick at the deadline if they decide they want to flip him. Prout was a regular in CBJ before injuries hit. I thought he looked pretty decent in the preaseason.

Another scenario where he’d be very useful to keep is if they ever decide to move Stone. Prout is a perfect 7th dman in that scenario

Oh, fully agreed. Was just trying to explain why he wasn't already sent down.

I find the handling of Prout somewhat puzzling..

In the last couple years he has spent more time in the AHL then he has in the NHL.

I'm not convinced he would be claimed if he was put on waivers.

I think that might have been the main reason he stayed in Stockton last season after the Flames acquired him, he had all ready cleared from NJ. Just think he could be a top four on the oilers, and he could protect Lucic.
