Anyone know of a sports bar in Calgary that provides a wireless signal?
I can drag along the laptop and ...
1. Get some work done
2. Check scores online
3. Keep tabs of my fantasy football pool & live scoring updates
4. Check scores online

With the number of un-encrypted networks around here, there has to be some establishments that would unknowingly provide the service. I have my choice of two networks within vicinity of my house and multiple choices if I enable wireless adapter at work. One of them apparently a health clinic, with personal records available. Scary isn't it? If you have a wireless router, encrypt the darn thing, it's not hard.

Always is a pretty strong word. WEP encryption is pretty pointless in most instances. 1, it is easily cracked, and 2, it only encrypts locally. So yeah, maybe it would prevent someone from sniffing your wireless traffic between the computers in your office, but if you are hooked up to the internet, you'll still need to secure your computers anyway.
If you are just using your router to connect to the internet, as most people do, the risk is much higher of someone watching your traffic beyond the router, than someone monitoring your traffic through the airwaves.

I have a wireless router and have just enabled it so only my MAC addresses can have access.
Is that a decent level of security or am I still fairly vulnerable?

Not really, that's pretty easy to spoof.
Really you should have WPA enabled.

Photon, what the hell was that game in your avatar (not Quest for the Avatar). It was a wicked game, funny too, I think I won it but can't remember.

You need to have WEP encryption, and MAC filtering enabled.. it's a must. It's amazing to me how stupid people are when I see like 10 "linksys" networks in my wireless list.

As was already said, WEP is pretty much useless. Unless you are doing illegal things with your Internet connection and want plausible deniability and claim that some war driver did it...
