Arizona Coyotes giving away tickets

Just received and e-mail form the Coyotes after attending a Flames game in Phoenix last year. How long can this franchise keep this up?

Your Complimentary Tickets for Sharks vs. Coyotes

Dear,

As a valued Coyotes fan, your insights are critical to the growth of our organization as we continue to improve our customer service and overall fan experience. Therefore, we would like to invite you to attend as a Secret Shopper when the Arizona Coyotes take on the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday, Jan. 16th at 8 PM at Gila River Arena.

If you wish to participate, the Coyotes will provide you with two complimentary tickets to the game and will ask you to complete a brief online survey following the event.

Tickets are limited for this initiative and therefore will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are selected, you will receive a confirmation email on Jan. 14th, which will include complete instructions on how to access your mobile tickets.

It is important for you to provide your personal mobile number that you will have with you at the game, as these tickets will be sent to that number only and cannot be transferred to a different device or a different party.

Making fun of the Coyotes' attendance woes isn't fun anymore.

This franchise will be in Houston soon. Deal is in place for a businessman to buy it for between 400-500 million.

This. While I don't think a downtown arena would result in sellouts every night I feel it would probably bring the attendance up to average for most US teams which is pretty mediocre in itself. Empty seats are the norm these days regardless of what attendance numbers would have you believe. I could see totally empty sections in San Jose last night.

Yeah, but road trips to watch Flames games are much better in Arizona.

Not ideal for a Gate-Driven league.

I think south Scottsdale - or on the reservation near it (like near Talking Stick) would have been pretty sweet.

This is my "tin-foil hat" theory but I think there is a deal in place to move them to Houston this offseason.

Think that the team will be sold and relocated (with a relocation fee) to the Fertitta's who really want an NHL team to pair with the Rockets. It was rumored that Fertitta has met with Bettman and the NHL staff a couple of times this season.

I think part of the reason they haven't announced the Dallas stars opponent for the Winter Classic is because it's going to be against Houston in a "Battle of Texas" as a way to jump start that rivalry.

And think that Arizona moving to the central division was a sign of that, and that Houston will probably be in that division already next year potentially, even before Seattle joins the league.

The one thing with the NHL in circumstances like this is that things tend to happen when it goes quiet. The fact that all noise around Phoenix getting an arena/ownership change/relocation has quieted down a fair bit makes me think it's happening. Very similar to the quiet before the surprise move of Atlanta to Winnipeg.

Too bad they couldn't get that new arena in that area. Could've given the franchise a chance to survive in Phoenix. Now it's just a matter of time until it moves to Houston.

The Coyotes will be in Glendale for at least one more season. The lease opt out date for the 19/20 season was Dec 31 and the Coyotes let that lapse.

Have some class.

Yet the ironic thing is the Flames are named after a fire that burned in Atlanta that destroyed a lot o#### and homes.

Survey question #1:

If the game was held in Houston how likely are you to attend?

Isn't the City of Glendale not really thrilled with that deal either...I feel like they would be able to figure that one out.

It would have been in both the City of Glendale and the Coyotes best interest to not announce that they have opted out in December.

Would have further plummeted already poor attendance and I'm sure Glendale would rather the Coyotes just leave quickly and quietly opposed to a drawn out 6-8 month process.

Lots of ways to figure out a way to get out of the year to year lease that neither party is overly thrilled about. Hell the city of Glendale already unilaterally voided the 15 year lease they had after two years in 2015.
