Isles-Jets swing deal

Headed to the 'Peg:

Matthew Lombardi, Ruslan Salei, 2006 5th Round Pick

Headed to the Island:

Chris Chelios, Jaroslav Svoboda, Dave Bolland, 2006 2nd Round Pick

Jets get a young, up and coming centre in Lombardi and a steady defensive defenceman in Salei.

Isles get a rock solid veteran in Chelios with good experience, and a solid defensive forward in Svoboda which the Isles have been looking for for a while now.

This was a tough trade for GM Walsh to make. We didn't ever want to move Chelios but we were in need of a good young center after moving Rucchin the other day. Salei is a decent defensive defenceman and should help us out on the blueline. Lombardi is a great passer and we are hoping he has some chemistry with the Parrish. The Jets got more good news today as starting tender Rick DiPietro came off the IR today and will start the first several games of the season.

The Jets will be out of town from tomorrow until Monday sometime. We have chosen the 2nd best GM in the league to help us out with submitting lines until we return.
