Senators release strange video in attempt to explain rebuild plans to fans
Awkward at best by Melnyk here. If you didn't know, Mark Borowecki, who is "interviewing/chatting" with Melnyk in the video is a depth defenceman for the sens.
Not quite as cringeworthy as Katz hitting on McDavid, but still really, really pathetic. Loaded up on draft picks??? How about that first overall that's in Colorado's pockets this year?
This is so remarkably tone-deaf. Mark Borowiecki is a good soldier for being part of this, but good gravy this is painful to watch. This would be cringeworthy for an ECHL team.

They have 15 picks in the next two Drafts. In 2019, they don't have their own 1st and 3rd round picks but do have Pittsburgh's 3rd and Calgary's 7th. In 2020, they don't have a 5th rounder, but have an extra 3rd and 6th.

Never seen an owner so meddle-y and in the forefront.
Take a back seat and let the hockey people do the hockey work, and focus marketing on the players, which are the main attraction point of a hockey team, not you talking to a camera (/talking down to your fanbase) trying to rationalize your mess like it was part of a grand plan.
He's also got to stop talking about what people on the street are saying, you're never going to silence all the critics and haters, and there are very many right now lol. You can never win that battle. I get what they were aiming for but it's just so very unconvincing coming from him.
I'm sure that's something Ottawa fans want to hear
"..first thing's first, I'm not going anywhere.."
Yikes.
I respect Borowecki for doing this however.
Can't help but think that things will be worse in Ottawa before it gets better. They still have the Karlsson situation to figure out. Stone is only on a 1 year contract. Duchene has one year left too. And Anderson is on his way out sometime in the near future.
Standings wise they might be an okay team at best. They won't crack the top 20. But this organization has some very big decisions to make before they are back to being contenders.
Someone on twitter pointed out he's not even wearing the newer Adidas jersey, keeping costs down.
Imagine losing karlsson, Hoffman and stone within a year, your first round pick that you gave away becoming jack Hughes, then losing the guy you traded it for to free agency.

Ottawa trade Karlsson for RNH + 2019 2nd + 2020 2nd. Then before the ink is dry offer sheet Nurse 1 year 4 million.
Probably wouldn't work, but I just enjoy the thought of Edmonton getting screwed over.

Sens don't have their 1st to offer-sheet Nurse.
