Looks like the pilot made a great landing.

Can't possibly make that section of road any worse. I say we leave it there.

That had to have been John McLane.

There's a lot of stuff to hit around there, that's pretty impressive IMO.

Looks like the edge of the right wing was clipped off... I wonder if it took out any trees or light poles in the process...

EDIT: It looks like they may have updated the article:

Quote:
Jarrett Stobbe had just left the C-Train and was walking to work when he saw the plane about 10 metres overhead.

"I heard this loud noise and looked up, and it come right over my head," he said. "It was coming in at kind of an angle and clipped that light post, then landed. The pilot did a heck of a job to get it down like that."

Another witness, Michael Nadon, said he wasn't sure what he was seeing was real.

"I had to do a double take, definitely, this early in the morning," he said. "It looked like it [the plane] was approaching these businesses here, but it veered off just enough and that's when it clipped the light post."
Nadon spoke to people on board who said they were shaken but unhurt.

"They were mentioning that the plane lost its fuel pump. The female pilot, she landed the plane absolutely amazingly, given the circumstances."

Or real-life Harrison Ford.

A few years ago a pilot had to land at Calaway Park.

I didn’t read this news story this morning so I was a little surprised on my drive to work to see a plane landed on 36 street.

In this case the skilled resourceful pilot was a woman.

I was just going to post the same thing - On that note, I watched Mercury 13 last week on Netflix which was a very good documentary about a women's astronaut program that was started in the early 1960's and subsequently scrubbed by President Lyndon Johnson a few years later. Most of the women selected for the program were pilots or engineers. These women went through the same types of rigorous tests that the men did and scored just as well if not substantially better on some of the tests. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it.

I think the only thing they might have hit was the traffic light support, which won the battle against the right wingtip. Maybe just one traffic sign as well.

When I saw the thread I thought she landed further north on Metis, not at a major intersection with LRT running down the divider. Holy crap.

We have been watching this on the TV at work and the pilot actually did a pretty good job landing the plane relatively unscathed (clipped wing looked unavoidable) as there's not a lot of room to work with on that road relative to the wingspan of the plane.

I'm confused. Was there no traffic? I guess it was 5:30 am, but still, it has to take a decent stretch of road to actually land, and there were no cars anywhere? That's lucky. Once you commit, if someone suddenly turns onto the road two blocks ahead...

She landed in the direction of traffic between the Mcdonalds and the 16 ave overpass. At least nobody could have merged into her path on that stretch of road. It is very narrow there though.

Could have been nasty if the left wing had hooked onto the LRT power line.
