Vocational Assessments

Here's the deal...

I'm 31 and wouldn't be able to go back to school until I'm 33. I'd like to do something else for a living as social services pays for shinguarde and I'd like to avoid living in a studio apartment when I'm in my 40's.

The problem is that I don't know what I'd like to do for a living. Unfortunately, being a huge hockey fan, a low skilled rec league hockey player or guy who watches funny videos on the internet are not viable career options as they have negative income.

Does anyone know where I could get a vocational assessment done? Preferably for free?

Do you have a benefits plan? Many plans have coverage for employee assistance with many different things, including career counselling. Check into that as you should be able to get an assessment done for "free" that way.

Go and see a gov't of Canada employment counsellor - they can hook you into the system. You can find their locations in the phone book - if not just phone the 1-800-OH-Canada # and ask or whatever.
