What constitutes a successful year for Troy Brouwer?
It's July 1. The buyout window has passed. For all intents and purposes, it appears that Troy Brouwer will begin his third season with the Flames this October, having last year registered a mere 6 goals and 22 points.
He's making $4.5 million for this coming season and the next. With all things considered, including lineup placement, depth charts, and pure statistics, what would you consider to be a successful year for the Flames' #36, both individually and for the Flames? Essentially, where do you think he should play, how much do you think he can contribute for it to be a success, and do you think he can accomplish what you define as this success?

Basically has to give us Lance Bouma's 2014-15 season (15-15 all at ES, block a bajillion shots without dragging down our penalty kill, and blow up anything that moves even if means putting his torso on the line).
He'll never live up to the contract, he was worth 2.25x2 when we signed him and that's the kind of contract expectations should be made of.

If he gets traded I'd say it's a success

10 goals 15 assists. Hard work, smart hockey. Just not a liability at this point.

Just don’t be a liability. Play smart.....stop skating away from scrums where Johnny was just face washed or another player got cheap shotted.
Brouwer cannot keep up anymore and I want guys trying to make this team to leave him behind in their dust. This team just got quicker so keep up Troy.
As for Bradley he needs to get rid of this guy unless Peters can pull a miracle out of his or someone else’s ass this guy doesn’t belong, shouldn’t be wearing an A.
I am done with this guy.

A buyout or a trade would be a wonderful gift to Flames fans, but sadly I don't see either of those happening. So for now, as long as they keep him off the PP and only use him sparingly on the 4th line, or if he just sits in the press box for half the year, I'll be happy.

Flames don't need the cap space this season...buyout would be counter productive

35 points is a low bar imo but just play with some jam and passion. Like someone said stop skating away from scrums, stick up for your teammates, be worthy of that A on your chest in this sense if you aren't doing it on the scoreboard

I could see him getting traded to be honest.
As of today he has limited NTC and now lists 15 teams he can be traded to. I'm sure once Treliving has a look over the list he will find a new home for him. There are a ton of teams with boat loads of cap space and nearly full rosters.

In a Flames uniform? I'm not even sure 20 goals would help his cause. Not many Flames fans want him on the team.
