Default Castle that gave Calgary its name is for sale

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...tors-1.4758534

Looks over Calgary Bay. Looks beautiful and available for a cool 1.2 Mil. Thought the price would be much higher than that. Always thought it would be cool to live in a castle. Until the maintenance bills start to pile up anyways.

It's not really a castle. Looks like one, though, and yeah, 1.2 mil is cheap. Issue is, can you get there?

EDIT: For whatever reason, I checked. If you fly into Glasgow, it's about a 2 hour drive to Oban, then a 45 minute ferry to the island, then an hour's drive across the island. So about 4 hours once you land, if you have a car.

Very true. That being said, it looks like it has a battlement between the turrets. That's Castley enough for me

And the view from up there would be incredible at sunset. There is a documentary on Netflix about British Castles. Very much worth a watch if you like castles.

Looks like a castle to me.

An actual castle castle is the first definition, and the key is "fortified" - that is, built to withstand an assault. This structure was not built to do that.

Anyway, I wonder what it would cost to build something like this. I'd guess far more than 1.2 million.

If I was Murray Edwards I would buy it. He's over there anyway. Of course I could think of a lot of ways to spend a billionaire's pocket change.

For 1.2 million get a bunch of CP members to buy it and we can use it as a vacation time share/lair of total no Oiler fans allowed.

For $1.2 million, you could buy this castle... or a duplex in Bankview.

Scottish real estate is a bit different. Different as in not straightforward at all.

Properties (like this one) can be listed as offers over 1.2M.

You then have to go to a lawyer and get them to note your interest and once the seller feels they have enough interest they can put a closing date for offers.

https://www.mov8realestate.com/2013/...-should-i-pay/

*edit*
Here's the listing and a bit of random did you know from it.

https://www.uklandandfarms.co.uk/rur...318_sfa180009/

Calgary being Gaelic for ‘beach of the meadow'.

If I'm buying a castle, you can be damn sure I'm also getting a helicopter to take me there from the airport.

1.1 million buys you a castle with a beach in Scotland and 11 hectares of lands that a city got named for, or 80% of this Bungalow in Vancouver
