I think it's funny that Pittsburgh gets these guys who look terrific playing with Crosby. Then they trade them for max return. Great asset management.
Next up, Jake Guentzel... I think his value is at maximum right now as well

Pens clearing cap space. Just cause or wonder if they have something in mind

Skinner or Jack Johnson are some of the Pens rumored targets.

Wow, is this one of the first trades Dreger has broken in a while?

The cap cleared more or less covers Skinner. Not sure they want to pay Neal's asking price which will be closer to $7M

He sorta not really broke it. Friedman tweeted about it first, but it was "rumblings" where Dreger, 6 minutes or so later said it was in trade call.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pens were in on both Jack Johnson and Calvin de Haan, and this deal means they've probably got a good indication that the courting period has gone well.

Did Hunwick have a terrible contract or something? Sheary's a really solid player, with, or without Crosby.

So rumors now are it could be for Skinner, or Johnson.
I have to wonder too if they could be a player for Karlsson.

Both had two years remaining. Hunwick 2.25M and Sheary 3M. For a 3rd rounder that seems pretty cheap. Although Sheary has a little bit of the Ferland thing going for him, where he probably is elevated by his linemate. Will be interesting to see him in Buffalo.

Colorado: Grubauer RFA + Orpik $5.5mil/1 year
Washington: 2nd(47th overall)2018
Pittsburgh: Sheary $3mil/2 years + Hunwick $2.25mil/ 2 years
Buffalo: 4th 2019
Of course the Flames aren't in cap trouble right now but it's interesting given we seemingly have 3 options with Brouwer.
a. Let him play out the remaining 2 years
b. Buy him out for $1,500,000 over 4 years
c. Dump him in a trade to another team
Just the fact we have $8,000,000 tied up in Brouwer and Stone for 2 more years is upsetting, and makes me wonder what it would take to dump those contracts.

Apparently not much!! (yes I know Sheary > Brouwer)
Brouwer for a conditional 7th - Condition being if Brouwer can score more than 1 goal this year Calgary gets nothing back and the team retains their 7th pick.
Make it so Brad
